On the lyrics, "We met on the internet" isn't the only thing sung in the background. I'm pretty sure it's (we met on the internet) and then (yet I doubt it). That's what I hear with the volume as loud as I can stand it in my car. Listen for yourself. |

If you listen closely, it DEFINATELY sounds like " a MILESTONE around my neck", like a significant point in his life. Aslo the drummer was intervied on the radio here and confirmed that while the song is called "Millstone" the lyric is "milestone". |

Songs like this are always easy to interpret on the outside, assuming there's no hidden meaning (which there probably is, given that this is a cake song); it's songs like "Race car ya-yas" and "Mr. Mastadon Farm" which are hard. He's talking to someone who thinks they're invincible (as many of us young folks do) and he says "how can you think you'll live forever when this sturdy house was so easily reduced to rubble?" Or somethin like that. |

For those who don't thingk this is about religion (and i know someone already said this, but) the Bible talks repeadedly of the sheep on the Lord's right hand who are blessed and enjoy the Kingdom of God while the goats are on His left hand and are cast into the fire. Also, someone else had the opinion that the bridge is about death.
"The gravedigger puts on the forceps" and "the stone mason does all the work" getting your grave ready "the barber" or the mortician, "gives you a haircut" or cleans you up to be presentable in your casket and "the carpenter", Christ, takes you "out to lunch" or to heaven. |

To me, the fact that Jesus wrote a blank check means that it's up to you what you write on it. Jesus isn't a "get into heaven free; do whatever you want and you'll be saved" pass, and the he (the singer) knows that, hence " I hope I've got a little more time". He's not ready to be religious and do the things he should, and he continues to "burn this earthen fire", focusing on the world rather than Christ, and "build his towers high", as Nimrod did with the Tower of Babel |

"the road to hell is paved with good intentions". That sums up the song pretty well for me. his "intentions are good and earnest and true" and he *could* stop the car or turn around, but satan keeps driving him forward. |
