Timberland – Give it to me (featuring Nelly Furtardo and Justin Timberlake) Lyrics 18 years ago
In each verse of the song, the artists is aiming their words at a particular artist in the industry.

Nelly's first verse is aimed at Fergie of Black Eyed Peas.
Timbaland's verse is aimed at hip hop producer Scott Storch (this has been confirmed by timbaland himself).
Justin Timberlakes verse is reportedly aimed at prince. Prince was overheard saying "sexy never left" during a post grammy performance... Justin touched on that in his verse.

Jay-Z – U Don't Know Lyrics 19 years ago
This the ultimate inspirational song to me. The first half of the song talks about where he came from, and what he went through. And the second half of the song talks about how he came up out of that and became ultra successful.

Going from selling crack, to making 80 million dollars in 2 years off clothing (not counting his music money). How could you listen to this shit and not be inspired? This was in 2001, jay is probably twice as rich now than he was 5 years ago.

When i hear this song, it makes me want to get up and do something.

The Game – Memph Bleek Iz Lyrics 19 years ago
Game used to be signed to J.T the bigga Figgas company called "get low records" back in the day. This was before dr.dre and aftermath came along. Anyways, memph bleek started a company called "get low" soon after, so it created conflict. Since J.T was games boss, Game took on the beef too and made this diss track.

Ice Cube – Black Korea Lyrics 20 years ago
People arent stepping back and looking at the TIME this record was made, and the CIRCUMSTANCES in which it was made.

In the early 90s, we all know south central was a crazy place, tensions were really high. And in the midst of all that, you have these asian families, who move to america, in a 98% black inner city neighborhood. This is a clash waiting to happen..

The asian families in the inner city didnt like blacks for the most part, they were distrustful of us, we were distrustful of them. there was no attempt on either side to understand each other. there were all kind of barriers up (language, culture etc)

Black korea was a song made at the height of frustration, he was the voice for all of the people who felt like this. This song was made BEFORE the riots...

and when the riots happened, look at all the asian owned establishments that got torn down, that was unfortunate... but it affirms that black korea was a warning message of how the mistrust and miscommunication was gonna lead to something bad.

Kanye West – Diamonds from Sierra Leone (Remix feat. Jay-Z) Lyrics 20 years ago
I LOVE jay-z's verse... hes the king of this braggadacio shit...

"This ain't no tall order, this is nothin to me.
Difficult takes a day,
Impossible takes a week.
I do this in my sleep.
I sold kilos of coke. I'm guessing I can sell CDs.
I'm not a businessman, I'm a business, man.
Lemme handle my business, damn."

and what makes it so good is its BELIEVABLE. he has proven over the years that hes a very sucessful businessman.

Jay-z is no longer just a rapper, and hes not just a record exec... hes a BRAND. His name alone rakes in dollars.

Kanye West – Crack Music Lyrics 20 years ago
im suprised nobody has commented on this song, its without a doubt the deepest track on late registration.

After the civil rights movement the gov't put crackcocaine in the inner city communities, and it tore us apart, the effects of this can still be seen today. alot of blacks invested heavily in the drug game... if they wernt using it.. they were selling it.

the other half of the song is saying how Hip Hop Music is becoming "the next crack" for us. Alot of us are rapping, and almost all of us are listening to it. We're making ALOT of money from hip hop. It was once seen as a negative thing, but in this country, if it makes money, corporate america will jump in.

So the line at the end that says "this dark diction has become americas addiction" is so true, because this BLACK artform has been accepted by mainstream whites and they cant get enough, so just like we used to bag up and slang crack...we're now bagging up and slangin hip hop... and people are hooked.

I love this song, its so true...so so so true..

Snoop Dogg – Loosen' Control Lyrics 20 years ago
I love this song, its basically about having your heart broken by a woman, and then recovering. letting a woman know how she hurt you, but also letting her know that you made it through just fine, and that you're gonna be just fine without her.

Its not all that often you see songs like this in hip hop because the norm is to be a braggart, and have the shoe on the other foot.

Its a real smooth laid back track... the whistling solo at the end is a nice touch.

The Game – Like Father, Like Son Lyrics 20 years ago
This is just game chronicling the events leading up to the birth of his son harlem, it took a while for this song to grow on me.. but its a good track.

Something for the game critics who question his subject matter to listen to.

The Game – I Got A Million On It Lyrics 20 years ago
This was by far games BEST diss track (even better than 300 bars) because he got real personal. Yukmouth later made 2 diss tracks for game in retaliation, he even made a video which was hilarious.

They eventually stopped making diss tracks against each other, but game said the beef wont officially be over until he and yukmouth knuckle up and fight. The reason for that is, yukmouth said some things about games good friend billboard (who was killed over a year ago).
