| Sean Lennon – Friendly Fire Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Sean was on David Letterman in October of 2006 explaining what most of the songs on his newest CD meant, it's a true story of an event that happened to him, his long time girlfriend of a few years that he was madly in love with cheated on him with his best friend and not long after it all happened his best friend died and he never had the chance to apologize for things he said.....so the song is pretty self explanatory after you watch that interview, you can find it on you tube under "sean lennon dead meat" | |
| Bruce Springsteen – The Rising Lyrics | 20 years ago |

This is one of the most overtly Catholic songs from a very Catholic artist! The Rising = The Ressurection of the Dead. This song is about a firefighter on 9/11 narrating his own death and ressurection through the mixed metaphors of climbing higher into the towers and ascending into heaven. The correct lyrics in the third verse are "May your precious blood bind me Lord as I stand before your fiery light." Seeing "Mary in the Garden of a Thousand Sighs" is probably the most compelling argument that Springsteen intended a Christian meaning. Mary Magdaline is the first to learn of Christ's ressurection in the garden near the tomb in John 20. Upon seeing that the man she thought was the gardener is Jesus, she clings to him and refuses to let go. Jesus' words to her, "Stop clinging to me; I am ascending to the Father" are an explicit declaration of the ressurection. |
