Bright Eyes – Down in a Rabbit Hole Lyrics 19 years ago
It's fairly clear to me that this song is about one of those moments of self-loathing that any heavy drug user experiences, where they wonder what the hell they've done with their life, wanting to be back to normal, but seeming so far from it -- hence the references to Boo Radley, and going "farther than you might expect." Also, the drug mentioned is crack -- a quick google search will verify that, plus, I've never seen baking soda used with methamphetamine.

The Mars Volta – Eriatarka Lyrics 19 years ago
There's a lot of wrong information here.

The album is based on the drug-induced coma of their friend who later killed himself. He was the subject of Embroglio as well, but Cedric and Omar felt that a song wasn't enough to memorialize him with, so they made the album.

The storybook is written by Omar in an attempt to give some depth to the absurdly abstract lyrics. If you're wondering why the storybook isn't in an extremely coherent writing style, look at the lyrics. These guys aren't too big into making things easy to understand.

Murder by Death – Intergalactic Menopause Lyrics 20 years ago
I agree with those saying how awesome the band is live. I'm about to see them for the 4th time at the beginning of November, and I've got to say, out of all the bands I've seen, plenty of which were awesome shows, the most memorable have been Murder by Death shows, always great. You can get completely lost in the music in that setting, and it's an amazing feeling. They can get a crowd into their shows, even if they're just an opening act, like no other band I've ever seen.

Murder by Death – End of the Line Lyrics 20 years ago
The line about setting the bone with the cardboard splint, I believe, is simply imagery depicting the gritty desperation of the townspeople. They set the bone with cardboard simply because they have no better method.

To add to the note about their new album: they should be finished recording it about October 29. The new album is comprised of songs each representing one of the circles of hell. It has a much more alt-country sound to it, which I'm not really a big fan of, but it's still characteristically MBD, so it's not bad all. Keep in mind I learned/heard this at a show they did back in June, so I'm not sure how much, if any, of that has changed.
