| Copeland – Sleep Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think this song is about falling in love with someone and you think is too amazing to be true. "I must be dreaming that I'm sitting here On someone else's throne" Throne = ruling; ruling a heart/the situation? which he doesn't think belongs to him. Kind of like 'being in someone else's shoes'. "Am I sleeping with my eyes wide?" He thinks he's asleep and dreaming the current reality, when he's not (obviously) "I wanna see your hairline and cheekbones Your red lips on your cell phone Won't you let me know?" Thinking of her and how she looks like when she's on the phone with him. Lol this is the first time I tried to analyse a song. Saw this being performed live. Was AWESOME. Aaron's voice is mesmerizing. |

I like her arrangement of the song. It sounds wistful, reflective. I think it means someone, ready to give up their relationship because it's not right for them both, so now he/she is wishing the other the best for their future in the years to come. It's a different kind of love, wishing for happiness and good fortune that may not be yours. |

I quite like the music to this one. Sounds almost... like one of those glam rock affairs...? (I'm not too familiar with the genre labelling though) The song itself seems to mean of one of those relationships that broke down badly. Or something of the likes of that. |

I love the upbeat in this song. I found it on the Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind soundtrack. Found it so cheerful compared to so many of today's music. Very whimsical sounding too. I found it rather ironical though: "Hey there Mr. Blue, We're so pleased to be with you Look around see what you do, Everybody smiles at you" and 'blue' is the metaphor for being 'sad'. Just a thought. |

I find it rather 'cute' and saccharine sweet. Love his voice quality. I find it weird from someone as old as him, writing such simple lyrics though. Or is the younger generation of lyricists getting too complicated? |

an honest song that made me cry. i can relate entirely to it. parents with all sorts of high expectations they put on you.... up until the point where your life isn't really yours anymore. one of my favourites of Alanis' writings. |

break up. one of them has stopped living. i love this song. it has a soothing tune and tempo. the lyrics are rather upfront yet subtle. |

| Rachael Yamagata – Paper Doll Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
kinds of reflect on my life situation right now. a lot of expectations/burdens on my back and people telling me what they want from me. until i'm not quite sure what i am myself. no sense of identity. like a paper doll, i am anonymous/nobody, yet i'm there. well, something like that. words can only say so much. |

| Hilary Duff – Fly Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
what does it mean to me? an overplayed, synthesized voice of a girl who tries much too hard, "subtle" lyrics, cheesy instrumentation. nothing more than a mediocre song in an album intended for quick money-making scheme. i've heard better pop songs. |
