All I can think and say is we lost one of the great musicians of the twentieth century. Wow! I do not believe in God but if I did He/She would sound just like Jeff Buckley... |

I complete believe Elvis Costello saying Finn is one of the greatest living songwriters. The Finn Bros. make exquisite pop songs. At their best, and In Temptation is a good example, they remind me of McCartney/ Lennon. Just perfectly crafted songs. |

Just want to say this may be the saddest song I have ever heard. Beautiful, beautiful... but very sad. |

| Josh Ritter – To the Dogs or Whoever Lyrics

I love this song. The imagery, literary and historical allusions; the way he seems to be channeling Dylan without sinking into parody. I think Ritter is shaping up to be one of *the* great songwriters, alongside Springsteen, Leonard Cohen, and of course Dylan. |

| Bruce Springsteen – Atlantic City Lyrics

Such a beautiful and multi-layered song. Thematically I think the song is about death and rebirth: dead end lives, starting over somewhere else. No accident the song is called Atlantic City - an American city that died and was re-born as Vegas East during the eighties... "Everything dies baby, that's a fact, but maybe everything that dies someday comes back". |

| Leona Naess – Ballerina Lyrics

I discovered this song and Naess via the same Weeds episode mentioned by a previous poster. My lord this is such a sad and beautiful song. When I hear it I think of my long lost best friend who disappeared from my life two years ago. I think of her almost every day and this song nails that feeling of loss, of regret. |

| My Bloody Valentine – Sometimes Lyrics

One of my favorite songs. My Bloody Valentine pioneered dream-pop (also known as shoe-gazing), and this is one of the best examples of the genre. Btw - regarding Coppola's use of it in 'Lost in Translation' - Kevin Shields, the leader singer and genius behind My Bloody Valentine, did the wonderful score for Lost in Translation. |
