Lydia – Always Move Fast Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's about a guy who's trying to snap his girl out of a state of depression or something. Something traumatic happened to her, and he's helping her get her old life back again, telling her, "always move fast." to protect her, he steers her away from potentially upsetting things, like a car crash. he thinks she's making progress, since she's smiling and such.

and then the last part hits; she's the one who's okay with the whole thing now, and he's the one who can't snap out of it. the car crash was all in his head, because depressing things like that are lingering in his memory. she leaves, reminding him to "always move fast," what he's often told her and she's followed, while letting himself stagnate.

Tegan and Sara – The Con Lyrics 18 years ago
Well, Tegan and Sara said that The Con is really part of the phrase "Pros and Cons," and actually told their art director to angle away from the whole "con artist" "convict" theme. crying is a con of this whole horrible relationship (that everyone else has talked about), along with liking to cry, along with the feeling that no one likes the singer, and there isn't a single pro to this arrangement, but SHE'S STILL IN IT.

Even if I'm wrong, the song is still really good.

Paramore – Born for This Lyrics 18 years ago
Hmmm...well, according to their LJ (I'm such a dork) Hayley was feeling really down one day about the way that the recording was going, and the critics in some magazines, and other haters on this awesome band. So she went home, got online, and read some awesome feedback from fans, and she decided that they didn't need the approval of major magazines and critics, so long as she was having fun and the fans were having fun. And then she wrote "Born For This," Josh laid down some music, and they got the winners of the contest to sing the backing vocals. It's intended to be the "Whoa" of RIOT, so all the throwbacks to All We Know Is Falling are intentional. It's kinda a response to all the hype around the second album (the sophomore curse), by saying "Well, you heard our old stuff, so can you handle the new?" sort of thing.

Wow. I hope that made sense.

Paramore – Brighter Lyrics 19 years ago
I always thought that this song was about the cliched two people that hated each other and then become friends in secret or something, but in the end, they have to leave it there, even though they love each other.

All "It's not this hard," is the denial, where they try to go back to hating each other by separating their things and pretending that there's nothing special in the friendship ("Taking this too far").

But, underneath the whole thing, as they're walking away from each other, they're both like..."Damn. He/she didn't do anything to show me that he/she loved me, but I still love him/her."

From First to Last – Secrets Don't Make Friends Lyrics 19 years ago
I was always of the opinion that the "Secrets don't make friends" part meant that just because you shared a secret with someone doesn't mean that you're instantly friends.

So, this kid thought that someone was a friend when the whole time, he was just being used. All because of a secret.

I don't know. That's just how I first interpreted the title.

Disturbed – Sacred Lie Lyrics 20 years ago
Hmmm...The song title is actually "Sacred Lie"

As I fight to UNCOVER you scared lie...
And the PLAN to unfold

This is basically an extension of the views in "Deify," but it protests the prolonged occupation of Iraq, even after Hussein has been caught, and how ridiculous it all seems. Soldiers are still dying, even when the original mission when invading Iraq has been accomplished. This mission, by that way, was all one big lie about the need for liberty and justice in Iraq and to find WMD's and take power from dictators and institute democracy...all a lie, really, just to invade SOMEONE. And now, the war, technically, is over, but for Bush and the families of dead soldiers, it has barely begun.

Disturbed – Pain Redefined Lyrics 20 years ago
Another correction...
Memories don't lie,
You KNOW better than

I think this song sounds like someone who's in a relationship with a person who lies a lot, and it hurts. But, the singer can't decide whether to leave her or not, so he's stuck there, in pain but unable to stop it.

Disturbed – Sons of Plunder Lyrics 20 years ago
Okay, besides the obvious fact that this gons is called "Sons of Plunder," this is a good job.

"Sons of Plunder" is about the recent American obsession with getting famous, and how easy it is now to form a band with almost no vision at all that uses the same tired formula as the rest of the genre (I think this is David's dig against the genre of pop).

And so now we come to the countless number of sheep that want to be in that band or win 'American Idol' just to crank out the same songs after they've had their spotlight, and the sons of plunder are there to help them along.

This is such a great song, and I congratulate David, Dan, and Mike on their awesome album.
