This song is one of the most powerful and moving and beautifully sad songs I've ever heard. It is an unrecognised masterpiece. The live version on the 1972 album "Hot August Night" is truly magnificent and unforgettable. I defy anyone not to be moved by this piece. |

Great song, but how can the lyrics be meant for Julian who was only 5 years old in 1968. "you were made to go out and get her...." "take a sad song and make it better....". He must have been a precocious 5 year old, far advanced for his tender years. Maybe it's about a grown up male pondering on whether to lose his virginity. |

This for me is the best Eagles song ever and they have recorded some classic songs ! I never tire of hearing this, it has everything, great lyrics, melody and guitar solo. The best song of the whole 70's. Period. |
