| Bright Eyes – Let's Not Shit Ourselves (To Love and to Be Loved) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| "There's worse things than being alone" Is that a Bukowski reference, or just a common sentiment? I think these Saddle Creek guys like to read. | |

| I agree with everything above. The lyrics are pretty simple and i like that. The song is sexual, and i think it's about sex with someone new, perhaps a close friend that had never been anything more. The lines "I'll be fine, you'll be fine" are the sort of thing you tell yourself in the moment. Then "I'm not fine" is the confession after a week of acting like it never happened, but thinking about it every minute. | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Here Is No Why Lyrics | 20 years ago |

"the useless drags, the empty days the lonely towers of long mistakes to forgotten faces and faded loves sitting still was never enough" No one writes lyrics like this anymore. These lines are about looking back on the things he has lost and the opportunities past. It's unclear as to whether he regrets anything (are you clear?). When you move on, it's hard to tell if what you find is as good as what you left behind. This pondering goes against the old "everything happens for a reason" which would imply that you are Here, now, at a particular place in life for a reason (Why), because it's all part of the plan. Which vaguely brings us to a good song title, Here is No Why. BTW, i think the pumpkins may get back together, Read some article somewhere... |

| I agree with citizen. I love the simplicity of the song. Also, the imagery! Parking lots, ripe young breath, soft lips, fragile wineglasses, he paints this picture that opens floodgates of feelings, instead of just screaming "i'm miserable". | |
