i saw her perform this song at the house of blues in San Diego...can I just say, she is absolutely incredible. i think everytime i hear another song from her, my love for her voice grows. she has so much conviction and pride and heart for what she does. anyway, this song is simply gorgeous. |

yet another correction... "tears stop here" "i know we've all had a bumpy ride" i think it's that all too familiar "gotta love them because they're family" feeling. it's apparent she's not enjoying herself yet she repeats "i'm secretly on your side" god only knows how much i can't stand to be around my sister...but she's family, so naturally i love her no matter what. :-) |

She uses an Mbira. It is An African musical instrument consisting of a hollow gourd or wooden resonator and a number of usually metal strips that vibrate when plucked. The song's not about aliens, war or nuclear bombings. It's appropriate for a relationship...or lack thereof. And hauntingly beautiful it is. This song drowns me in musical and lyrical delight. Absolutely fantastic. |
