I agree, this is about evolutionnism and the place of mankind in evolution. "Kicked from our pedestal when Darwin burnt the book" The habitual Genesis/evolutionnism dilemma, the burnt book being the Bible. "with biologists and chemists reducing our souls, to four letters..." Refers to DNA (letters TAGC) and the fact that our mind is only a succession of electro-chemical reactions in our body. |

The part with "He broke into the pool with a fist of spaghetti" makes me think this song is about FSM (The Flying Spaghetti Monster: see http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spaghetti_Monster).
