Rage Against the Machine – Bombtrack Lyrics 20 years ago
It's just another bombtrack (A song that 'bombs' the world with new meaning. This song is the first track on the album, so it probably introduces what kind of music they do)
And suckas be thinkin' that they can fake this (And others think that they can fool others into thinking something other then what they are doing)
But I'm gonna drop it at a higher level (As someone who can see through their lies, he's going to reveal it to the world)
'Cause I'm inclined to stoop down (He feels the need to look at the ignorant masses and tell them)
Hand out some beat-downs (tell us about the 'left' side of the government and such)
Cold runna train on punk ho's that
Think they run the game (Surprise the gov whom think that they control everything)
But I learned to burn that bridge and delete
Those who compete at a level that's obsolete (his beliefs about the government is what he 'learned' and he 'deleted those who compete' by informing people of what he knows through RATM)
Instead I warm my hands upon the flames of the flag
As I recall our downfall (Instead of fighting against the government directly, he decided to fight them though protest and music)
And the business that burned us all (they originally wanted the land in the west for economical purposes, and to expand their empire)
See through the news and the views that twist reality (Seeing through the media that makes people think other then what's really happening)
Enough
I call the bluff
F*ck Manifest destiny (Manifest Destiny was a term used to cover up their intentions of spreading their empire)

Landlords and power whores
On my people they took turns
Dispute the suits I ignite
And then watch 'em burn (USA took the people of California and the lands of the west, making them shift their nationality to American, dispite their beliefs. And dispite what they have protested, USA seemed to 'burn' them by ignoring them and most likely shooting down whomever tried to resist (just saying that they may have done that before)

With the thoughts from a militant mind
Hardline, hardline after hardline (From military leaders, the commands over 'hardlines' (i thought it had some relation to some form of communication))

It goes a-one, two, three
Another funky radical bombtrack
Started as a sketch in my notebook (it started out as a simple writing thing... but now it's a 'war' against the government)
And now dope hooks make punks take another look
My thoughts ya hear and ya begin to fear
That ya card will get pulled if ya interfere (the people now look in fear at the gov after hearing Zach's words in meaning, so now they think the same and for that, they could be killed for trying to intefere with the gov's activities)

basically this song is about how Rage is now going to introduce you into the REALITY from this 'American Dream' that you have been learning about since you were 5. They will help you see through the LIES that the government and media tell you in order to get you to obey and believe what they are doing, is right.

Audioslave – Cochise Lyrics 20 years ago
hehe, Audioslave sounds more full then Rage, if you ask me. But they both rule :D I needed to take a break from all the political shit and stuff anyway.

Of course, this song is about 'Cochise,' a native american who spent the last years of his life terrorizing the land for the freedom of his people. The lyrics are basically speaking as if they were Cochise himself.

" Well I been watchin'
While you've been coughin'
I've been drinking rough
While you've been nauseous
And so I drink to health
While you kill yourself
And I got just one thing
That I can offer"

Cochise has watched his people suffer (the Native Americans were driven out of their original lands by the English and Spaniards and the other countries that came soon after that) while he had been experiencing the technology and government they had back then. He basically sighs and wants his enemies to take it out on him, instead of his people.

(By the way, i think it's more like 'Go on and save yourself') The chorus is about how Cochise spoke to his own people. Basically he's saying "Run while you still can, and if you don't want to, kill me now." or something like that. But it sounds pretty much what he wanted to say.

The next verse is about how he claims to not be a savior of his people (and he wasn't), but more of someone who only wished to not see their race suffer and disintegrate under these 'scoundrels' (well, that's what I would consider calling their enemies o_o).

The slow part where Chris goes "drown, if you want..." probably means.... "I'll see you in hell, where you'll place the blame on me for your death." (I could be wrong, but that's what I get from first impression >.>)

Well, it's either those meanings or it's actually more of an introduction of Chris into the band. A lot of Rage fans didn't (and probably still don't) like Chris cause of his voice. And he is basically saying 'if you don't like me, then whatever. betray the people who used to be your favorite band by flaming us if you want' (Of course, this meaning is probably waaaaayyy off).

Love this song btw, my friend can play it on the drums! If it weren't for Tom, I wouldn't have even gotten a guitar xD

Audioslave – Doesn't Remind Me Lyrics 20 years ago
I think it's more of a how one can start a new life by forgetting their hurtful memories and dropping their bad habits and qualities. Instead of looking at the past, one should look now in the present and into the future. Sure many things will be missed in the memories, but they are already went and gone, therefore they can never come back. What's the use of living in the past, if all it does is make you sick?

Sevendust – Disease Lyrics 20 years ago
" I stuck my head in the sand
Cut my face to hell
There was nothing - nothing but my life unanswered
The truth has died
And in the world you wanted to find
There was nothing - nothing but the unforgiven"

He's stating that everything he has done was for in vain, for he has died and now surrounded by the sinners. He's saying that even though he has done all these things to find an answer to a question, he found himself in a place he doesn't want to be.

"Destroy all you see
Tattoo the world - change everything
Save the world for me
Tattoo the world"

Destroying all you see means to stop the wars, stop the anger, and stop all the suffering. This is all 'you' see. Tatooing the world obviously means to leave your mark on the world in its history.

"Do I care anymore - if there's a new beginning
The simple plan is broken
Every time it's given
I needed thrust and love but grab the hand of hate
To help me up again
To fuck me up again"

He wonders if he cares if the world changes. 'Simple Plan is broken every time it's given' means that even though he makes all these plans that sound simple, these plans screw up everytime he tries to do something. The last part means that he needs motivation from love and trust, instead of the hate and anger.

I think the summary of this song is to change the world, and if you can't, at least leave your mark.

btw, this is an awesome song.
