I think this song really does give off the feeling of loss. It came on when I was thinking about a loss and it was the perfect song for how I was feeling. There is definitely a lot of genuine emotion in this song. |

My favorite part of this song is "I climbed the hill, I wanted to look down on you / But all I saw was twenty miles of wilderness so I went home." To me, it means that you keep looking for something in a person and cannot find it, perhaps because they don't have it in the first place or maybe they don't want to show it to you. But then at some point it doesn't matter anymore and you just give up. |

This song kind of explains how I handle love, running from it because I don't understand it. But sometimes you can't run from it...("The only pain is to feel nothing at all"....so true). I think most people are fatalists at heart, even those like me who try to get rid of illogical longings. |

I think it's about someone who's trying to be a hero and save their friend, but the friend doesn't want to be saved. You can't help someone if they don't want to be helped. Or, even if they want to be helped you can't help them if you don't understand the person and are going about it all wrong. Sometimes it seems like people just enjoy being the helper and don't get it all (Am I your charity?)...that's just what the song made me think of anyway. |

I like this song because my eyes are green sometimes. Other than that, I have no idea what it's about!! |

This song randomly shuffled up on my iPod today and I have to say it fits me right now. I think this is most true for first real loves, though. After that you're not as dumb because you know how it's going to be. Word of advice: if someone doesn't love you now, they never will!! Don't waste your time like a FOOL! |

I feel like I will never amount to anything...and it'll probably end up being a self-fulfilling prophesy. Evenso, I still think in the back of my mind that something amazing could happen and turn it all around. Who knows. |

Maud Gonne was this woman Yeats was obssessed with. She was into violent politics in Ireland and he asked her to marry him several times but she said no every time. The pain this caused him was the source of much of his poetry. |

| The Cranberries – Ode To My Family Lyrics

In response to pavelkoo, to me the line "Unhappiness was when I was young" is kind of ironic...like when you're a kid you sometimes think you're unhappy and then later you realize what real unhappiness is.
I think "Does anyone care?" refers to the contrast between how your family cares about you on a completely different level than other people (no matter how good of friends you think you have). But I also see the last few lines of "Does anyone care?" as more irony. No one cares like your family, but sometimes you wonder if even your family really cares...With my ironic view of this song it's probably obvious what my first reaction was to "my father, my father, he liked me"...but I really like Jess4d's more optimistic interpretation |

When I was like four my parents were divorced and my dad's girlfriend told me that if I didn't go to sleep morning would never come. I asked my mom about it and she explained to me about lying. Good song, kind of representative of the lies your parents and other people tell you just so they don't have to deal with trying to think of real explanations for things. |

I love this simple song, and I think it means that there are two kinds of guys out there. One will treat you like a kid, like he's your father or something and can tell you what to do. The other will love you and let you do what you want. The first kind only likes you because you're something he can conrol. The second kind loves you and doesn't have to control you. That's my take on the song anyway. |

I think this song is about something that happens with guys when they're horny and think they're actually in love with a girl when really they just want to have sex with her. He's really nice and sweet and everything to her, making her think he loves her so much and is always going to be there, and then when he actually gets her to give in and they have sex and she falls hard for him, it becomes obvious to her that he doesn't really feel that way and she feels kind of stupid/wounded by the whole thing because she actually thought he loved her or something. And maybe he even convinced himself for awhile that he did..."Maybe I need fantasy." But in the end, he doesn't love her and she's sad and he feels kind of bad about the whole thing. |
