sounds like what a houdini type magician goes through.. doing tricks like put in a straightjacket then getting out, being locked up and put under water then escaping... maybe being used as an analogy for something but not sure what. |

I think it's about facing the world alone, and having it wear you down to the point you are just trying to make it through life. about feeling everything is against you and it's just sheer force of will that gets you through the day. every day you just have to tell yourself to get through "one more day" because thinking of going on like this forever would put you over the edge of depair. you know you aren't free but you have to "believe you're free to roam" just to survive. "watch as she lies silent" i think means watching someone...a lover or child sleeping, but being only an onlooker to the sort of mental peace that allows sleep. the 2nd part i think is about just feeling the need to build up your will to make it, even if it is painful you are still trying to deal with all the onslaughts of the world to live...but you have to keep questioning what does it matter if i live or die "how much difference" does anything i do make? |
