I really believe this song is a message the Beastie Boys have given to old rap group 3rd Bass. At the time of this release, 3rd Bass, another white rap group, had replaced the Beastie Boys in Def Jam Records. The Beasties are angry about this and how 3rd Bass believed they would be better than them, etc. The whole thing about 'Looking down the barrel of a gun' is the decision of 3rd Bass to sign with Def Jam...because it may come back and shoot them in the face...which is what happened in 1993, when the group disbanded, and the Beastie Boys got the last word in the rivarly. |

This is one of the greatest Beastie Boys songs out there. It's about a night someone (or they?) had while on drugs. It's hard to understand what this song really means. My guess is maybe a car thief stole their car that was full of drugs/money? I listen to it for the flow of the words and the imagery that you can portray in your mind with the music it delivers. |

the whole bit about his "Farm" not being "fat" is a diss to Phat Farm...owner being Russell Simmons, owner of Def Jam records...a record label the Beastie Boys left in 1988 over a bunch of law suits. The Beastie Boys are telling the Hip-Hop community to "Check It Out" how REAL Hip-Hop is done, and how a group that has existed for 20+ years can burst into the current Rap game and put out a successful Hip-Hop album. |

As bizarre as this sounds, I really truly believe that this song is about an addiction to cocaine. Read the lyrics and imagine a person going crazy and "talking" to cocaine. |
