I also think that it's about suicide.
Except that, she says, "Just let it go, what now can never be" and that makes me think that it's the moment when she's taken pills or something, and as she's fading from existence, she has that moment of regret. And despite how she tries to justify her actions, she still can't deny that her choice to kill herself might have been a mistake.
It's like in those stories, where someone finally realizes what they've done to themselves, and can no longer turn back, and is balling their eyes out at the thought.

This song is so sweet sounding... reminds me of long roads and sunsets ^-^
I guess it's about being back in their hometown and realizing how much they miss it. Because, well, they came back for a friend's wedding, and realized that this is where they want to be spending their lives. Perhaps that's the reason why they weren't that farther by that point...

The meaning... kinda confusing, not gonna lie.. I dunno, it seems like it's a story that keeps jumping from perspective to perspective. So like..
It starts off, I guess, maybe Adam's new love telling him that it was the day he had promised to break it off with Mary.
I'm gonna assume that every 'she' or 'her' refers to Mary, because the chorus goes "tell her, tell Mary'..
So... basically, Adam falls in love with someone else from his past, and so is going to leave Mary for her. But then it confuses me with the 'meet me' part, because it seems as if someone is telling Mary that Adam was going to leave her. So I guess that this could entirely from the perspective of a middleman? Possibly even Adam's mistress, who in turn feels bad for stealing her man away, so she sympathizes and decides to tell Mary. I dunno. I'm confusing myself now.
EITHER way... it's quite a lovely song; reminds me of a lullaby. |

hhmmm... absolutely beautiful song, couldn't disagree with it more. If there's nothing to die for, there's nothing to live for. without religion or possessions or countries or whatever... well, we'd be all the same. and variety is key to life. not living it, of course, but enjoying it. And if we're all the same... well, when i first really actually sat down and read the lyrics, all I could imagine was a world full of clones, people dressed all the same and thinking the same thing. sure, it would certainly eliminate hunger and poverty and war, but it kinda eliminates basically everything else too, doesn't it? We think differently because we all think. We're all brought up by different morals and keep different things close to heart. Now, take a moment and imagine if we really were all the same. There would be no point to living, really. But then, I guess maybe that's why he added, "Imagine there's no heaven" so that in this way we'd live just for the life we already have. but again, how depressing a life would be without being able to experience anything different. I, for one, would not want it. |

No, I think I pretty much what you mean. Like I was just telling my friend the other day, life in a nutshell is just so depressing and pointless. I mean, honestly, what of it? My friend just looked wierded out and asked me if I was cutting. (stupid friend...) but yeah I guess we fulfill our dreams to make ourselves happy, and perhaps it just doesn't need to mean anything. and if it does, i highly doubt that anyone really knows the right answer. i guess that's part of life, though. The guesswork involved, i mean. Like, we gotta have some inspiration to live, or else what's the point? but then again, that was your question to begin with, wasn't it? god, this is confusing. |

I swear, when I first heard this song, and about most of the other songs on their new cd, I immediately thought of vampires. I know, I'm crazy, right? well, I just bought their cd and was listening to it when I was reading this book that so happened to have vampires in it... and honestly, it just relates too well to be coincidence. Anyways, it's an amazing cd... they're so dark and like evil but god, I love it. Okay, well, not totally evil. But dark enough. |
