Unbelievable. I just bought this CD today, and though I've only heard it from start to finish one time, this song spoke to me. My dad is currently dying of cancer at age 50. Most of the family members on his side of the family drove 9 hours down here to Texas to come see us and see him again, and two of my ucnles took me out today to try and clear my head, and that's when I bought this CD. It's crazy how it seems like all this time I've been listening to music (been purchasing CDs since i was 7, and i'm 18 now) I've never really found many songs I can relate to much. Yet once my dad was diagnosed, I notice all these songs popping up about losing family members or people you care about. This song was a big wake up call for me personally that I need to spend as much time as I can with him, not just to take care of him like I have been, but to sit down with him through these last couple months. Gibbard has always had such a way with lyrics. His writing is incredible (in both DCFC and PS) and like it has been said before, his lyrics never really point out directly what he speaks of, you have to think about it (or not so much with songs like this). This song has had such a huge impact on me and I've only heard it once. Thank you, Mr. Gibbard. |
