Skillet – Monster Lyrics 15 years ago
This band has absolutely no idea what it's like to feel like a monster. If anything, this song to me sounds like just a hackneyed attempt by the band at mainstream success through writing lyrics that appeal to teenager's (and some immature adults) feelings of anger and being outcasts.

kozworth, how can it be a copyright violation if the riff is the same as another one of his own songs?

Audioslave – The Last Remaining Light Lyrics 19 years ago
I agree with taken-by-the-music. I think this song is about being a very dark place in your life, feeling as though you have no hope, and how it would be if you just gave up. As well, I think "If you don't believe the sun will rise, stand alone and greet the coming night" means to watch and wait, be patient, because the sun does indeed rise again.

Pearl Jam – Do the Evolution Lyrics 20 years ago
*ahem* ClassicRock7, I know you will take great offense to the statement I am about to make and probably ignore the rest of my post. That having been said, on with the show.

You are deluded. Extremely so. To deny that this country has its own set of problems is naive and unrealistic. We have poverty, a lot of poverty. Just go to NYC or LA or Detroit or any other big city, look for the hobos sleeping on park benches. Also, despite what you may believe or have been told to believe, America is not a great land of opportunity. There is actually very little class shifting that goes on here. For the most part, the rich keep getting richer and the poor keep on being poor. It's the basic economics of capitolism. When the focus is money, the ones who have the most have the power and there is very little anyone else can do.

I would also like to take this moment to remind you of two things. One: our government is run by people, rich people. People make mistakes, so it is quite likely that our government will make mistakes just like any other government. Rich people tend to be more concerned with money than the actual welfare of others, so it is quite likely that the people who run our government will make choices that will raise more money for themselves and their friends than it would do any sort of good for us. That's the way it is, there will always be people talking about it and complaining about it, get used to it.

By the way, your comment "and if you don't appreciate it get the fuck out you douschegag" is not only entirely uncalled for, but it is also another unrealistic statement. It's never as simple as just leaving. Seeing how it takes money to buy a plane ticket, a car, and/or gas for a car, not to mention the myriad of other things which are involved in moving to another country, it becomes a matter of whether or not you can afford to "get the fuck out". Believe me, I would actually love to live in another country. I cannot afford it, and I am stuck here. I will gladly leave if you'll pay for me to go though ;).

Chevelle – Vitamin R (Leading Us Along) Lyrics 20 years ago
This song makes me think about a man who is trapped in a mundane life. He's doing what he is told is normal, he lives the life he is told to life. He does what everyone says he should be doing, but it's not enough. Instead of being just another pion, he fantasizes all day about things he'd rather be doing, things that are better. A better life.

I know it's really about ritalin, but think about it for a moment though. How many people on ritalin actually accept the supposed "normal thing" and do what they're told they should do without that drug? I think ritalin, and drugs like it, are just another method of keeping people from thinking for themselves.

That's all I have right now.

Chimaira – Fascination Street Lyrics 20 years ago
Chimaira does a horrible cover of this song. It was never meant to be done in a metal version. They completely ruin it by making it heavy, screaming parts, and they even throw off the rhythm in a lot of parts. RavenGT you are absolutely wrong, it is not about a doomed relationship, it is about New Orleans and the way Rober Smith (the original writer of the song) felt about performing in front of so many people. Slipmaira, your friend who is a Cure fan is an idiot, this is an absolutely shitty cover. Period.
