> Catch it in your mouth, like your last name Moss
Yeah, I'm guessing he meant Randy Moss, the football player.
I never realized how dirty this song is. Lol. |

I love this song because it reminds me of high school. I didn't actually find out it was about an elderly couple driving off a cliff until that VH1 special. |

I'd never heard this version before, but I like it. I still like the Elliott Smith and Wilco versions the best, but this is a good one too. |

I think "cellophane flowers" is a reference to Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.
"Cellophane flowers of yellow and green
Towering over your head
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
And she's gone" |

I'm not a Christian (Jew in the house!) and *I* think this song is about Jesus. Specifically someone who has had some sort of disconnect with Jesus or God or the church, and wants to find his or her way back to them. |

my 2¢:
i think "cute without the e" is to the girl john and jesse were both with, and i think "there's no i in team" is john-to-jesse.
when he say [Don't believe me when I tell you, \ "it's just what anyone would do"] i don't think he's talking about sleeping with jesse's girlfriend because she's easy, as someone suggested. i think he's talking about actually telling jesse what he did. i think he's saying that being honest about it is what anyone would do, not the actual sleeping with the "easy' girlfriend.
i think a lot of people want to see the song for its face value, but i think really it's about the two men's friendship rather than the girl. like i said before, i think the song about/for the girl was "cute without the e" and this is the one for jesse.
just my 2¢. |

the title of the album itself is meant to be sarcastic and tongue-in-cheek (according to an interview in AP magazine with the band in 2003) so maybe it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine that the song is also tongue-in-cheek? |
