we managed to sneak this in as some sort of hymn as the last song in or graduation mass. the school choir sang it and it sounded pretty impressive apparently! it seems like a perfect way to sum up our years together. by the end not only girls but even the most macho of guys were in tears. here's to six years of fond memories! |

| i love this song! managed to rally up enough support to have it as our graduation song last friday. walking around school all week i kept hearing everyone humming the intro. was pretty damn cool and very suitable as we were looking for something that tied in with memories, our theme, and also had a very teenage (and irish!) vibe. | |

it's pretty cool, i went to school for a spell in the town where he grew up. i really love the doc leaf line. Fionn left wicklow and went to england when he was seventeen i think, to "follow his dream". Growing up in kilmacanogue, nettles and doc leaves were a major part of rambling on a mountainside so i particularly like this little piece of home-grown love, it's something i don't find since i moved. |

aaagh! i love it. i love it. i love it. it's wonderful. it's got all the oomph, and extravagance and dirty fun you want from the killers. it's a big song and before its released i wanna say, i love you. don't be ruined by being overplayed. yeah i think it's just about lust and that sort of selfish kick start you get from it. but jeez, in such a beautiful way. |

i gotta agree with heartbeats on the whole military theme. don't think you could doubt it what with the whole marching beat et all. there's a few mistakes in the lyrics here though, it's "you should have known by now, you were on my list" anyhoo, i think it's a great song. and album. it's growing on me like wild fire, but sometimes i can't help but think it lacks the variety of hot fuss(?). you can't pick out quite so many influences. but hey. maybe with further listening i shall change my ways. |

i'm probably wrong but my first impression is that it's about some girl he loves, the angel, and a friend of his, the devil. Before his eyes he can see them falling in love and he resents his friend for this but he's also a little hurt by her, hence "i can't tell which from which". their second album lacks something but they're fantastic live. saw them during arts week in galway in july. brilliant! |

If everytime you turned on the radio you heard the news, with all its stories of corruption and abuse and disasters, then you switched over to a music channel and heard more of the same, you wouldn't be a very happy bunny now would you??? "real world issues"??? and I suppose every real world issue has some profound impact on your own pathetic little life? Do you sit back and pore over every excrutiating detail of every international dispute and just cry your eyes out over it? Your opinions are a load of f***ing b****x!!! If you really care about these issues, which everyone is aware of anyway, why not do something about them rather than just bore those you feel are inferior to you, your royal f***ing highness? you expect everyone else in all their supposed ignorance to hang on to your every word! "buy Q instead, it will save your life"? You are a self righteous asshole! If you want to know, why these songs are so popular, all you have to do is go watch a movie like "Cinema Paradiso" or something similar. I'll humour you and even bring "real world issues" into this. Without even being aware of it, everyone needs an escape from the issues which upset them, which have a negative influence on them, which they feel they can't change, whether they have a direct influence on them or not. And when a band sing GREAT songs about specific good times and bad times, emotions, fears and excitement which people can easily relate to, well I think we have an answer. Aside from that, the arctic monkeys MUSIC is fantastic! They hardly even need lyrics! And if you don't agree, well what makes your opinion superior to mine? You've just been thrashed by a fifteen year old. Proud moment for you then? |

ok weel. i always thought it was about the movie "on the waterfront"! i coz u kno the way that girl whose name i can't remember but i don't think was nina was trying to convince terry to rat on jonny friendly coz new york city cops ain't too smart??? and the line "kill me now coz i'll let u down swear some day we're gonna leave this town" is about his inner conflict, he didn't think he cud get away from jonny friendly, so he'd let her down but at the same time he wanted to run away with her. then "locked in an apartment, she wud not let them get her" is about when she wudn't let terry in coz she found out he was partially responsible for her brothers death and she just thought he was another mob guy. i think the next lines "i've got to come clean, the authorities they've seen" is about how terry finally decides to give evidence against jonny friendly. well im probably wrong, its a long shot but thats what i thought |

| i kno its bn said but this song's just incredible. the line "all i can taste is this moment" is my fav. last summer i was surrounded by it, i even nearly fell asleep listening to it, at a disco! coz it just seems to get right to my bones! anyway, the same night, i had to say goodbye to the guy who no-one's ever compared with. it was in the rain with fairy lights on the walls around and he had his jacket wrapped around me and i just thought if this moment never ended i wouldn't ever change a thing. so thats it. only a few days ago i learnt the lyrics and tho it sounds ridiculous, it means a lot to me. | |
