FYI: Jacksonville was a major stopping point on the underground railroad (mentioned in the first lines) It also contains the Illinois School for the Deaf and the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired which is hinted at throught the song the last verse is about the question of where Jacksonville gets it's name: A.W. Jackson (a black preacher) or Andrew Jackson? In truth it was named after Andrew Jackson |
