FOR STARTERS THE VERSION ON STOP THE WORLD NOW SUCKS!! IT HAS NO EMOTION AND THEY BUTCHERED IT... secondly here is the correct lyrics and my interpretation of what it means: Howie is the best friend of a girl and is probably inlove with this girl and is telling some other guy who also loves this girl that he has no chance with her cause he knows her and what she is like. (Sweet is the sight of her room Window open by candle light How would you know) here he tells the guy, how would u know how beautiful she is when i have seen her in her room lit by candles and been that close.. basically saying i know her better. (Cold winter on the shore chills the dress she wore it's on the floor still it feels so warm today) similar to above.. just stating stuff about her and this also shows that he may be in love with her, cause he noticing all this stuff about her. (and that's why i'm wondering why you had to tell me what's going on in your head) maybe he didnt want to know cause he didnt want to have to tell him he has no chance (what's wrong come around to another time when you don't have to run) --yep stumped here. (and when she says she wants somebody else i hope you know she doesn't mean you) self explainatory... saying when she says she wants someone, its not him.. (its not howie either) (and when she breaks down and makes a sound you'll never hear her the way that i do) when she breaks down she comes crying to her best friend. he knows her best. (and when she says she wants someone to love i hope you know that she doesn't mean you and when she breaks down and lets you down i hope you know that she doesn't mean you) again self explainitory (Swing into flight over hills, over her hills, it's twilight yeah, i guess that's right now) the guy has taken off.. cause he realised that howie was right. (while we're here tell me why it's so funny that you're so funny when you're mad cause it's mad, so mad) maybe the guy was mad that howie was right chorus etc (i dont know where your coming from i dont know where your coming to) saying i dont know why u thought she liked u in the first place.. ok well everyones interpretations seem to differ slightly. i believe stonedagedqueens is most correct. reasons: It seems more sexual that being a friend.. and he reminises about the good times with them.. so it cant be just a crush he crushes on from afar either.. My break down: (Found myself just the other day In the backyard of a friends place Thinking about you Thinking of the crowd you're in, What you're up to, where you've been, Just thinking...) self explainatory... just thinking about her for whatever reason... (You know the clothes that you wear, and the colour in your hair, Shouldn't change you, Now tell me why is it so, You're bigger than Mighty Joe At least you think so) here he just says that the way u dress etc doesnt define the person u are, and just cause u change ur hair or your style, it shouldnt change you as a person.. and he is asking why she thinks she is better than everyone else now. (God my fingers burn, Now when I think of touching your hair) Here this seems a little more sexual, which suggests he used to have something with the girl in the past.. ppl dont generally touch someones hair unless u are really close..other wise its creepy.. but he is just saying that he doesnt like the feeling he gets when he thinks about her, as its not a good feeling (You have changed so much that I don't know, If I can call you, and tell you I care) obvious... doesnt think that she cares enough to talk to him, so he feels he cant call and say hi i still care about you, and see what she is doing to herself and how she have changed. (And I would love to bring you down, Plant your feet back on the ground) he wants to call her to bring her back to reality, and get her of her imaginary pedastal and back down on the ground where everyone else is.. (You know the scene that you're in, And the people that you've been with, Just get to me But you think I'm not as cool As you are so beautiful, Who you foolin?) this part generaly says that crowd she is in and hanging out with are the cause and that its annoying him that they have changed her cause they (and her) think they are too cool for him and she if fooling herself. (Well I'm here to tell you babe, The game you're in, is just a game So damn pretentious) just saying im here and im gonna tell u how it really is! she is playing a game that she doesnt realise it yet. pretentious means making an extravagant outward show..putting on a show.. thats how i see it..feel free to try and correct me breaking it down like that |
