I dunno why but I always seem to think of the girl comitting suicide when I hear this song. A bit morbid I know, but the line I told the devil and the deep blue sea to hide i thought that you were after them I was right. Not really sure why it keeps repeating the line looking as you are though - possibly because no one thought that she'd do such a thing as she looked so normal? Now i'm clutching at straws! |

this song always upsets me, it reminds me of the guy I like and how he's had to move away for a year. This was out when we'd eventually told each other how we felt, which made me happy but also sad as he was going away so we couldn't act on it - mirrored when the line "can't stop smiling" changes to "can't stop crying" in another verse. I always think that if he comes back and we end up together it'll hold even more meaning. . . . . . "it's been a long time coming". So sad I know! |

Oh no that's kind of spoiled it now. Was really liking the interpretation of not being able to describe love by logic (i.e. science) as it doesn't have a set formula to follow. Also, like the fact t indicates in the line "nobody said it was easy, no one ever said it would be so hard" that although love is expected to arrive at some point, it was never expected to be so difficult to maintain and achieve as people's minds are "a science apart". After so much interaction things can get a bit fucked up, so sometimes you just wanna go back to the start when things were simple and innocent. Chris Martin is a genius though no matter what his meaning or reasons were behind this song |

I'm not really sure why everyone's interpreting the song as unrequited love? Nothing in the song sugguests this. I think it's just above loving someone so much that it's a bit scary, to loose a bit of self control is always a bit worrying cause you never want to be too dependant. But I think the line "falling into your arms" indicates that it's not unrequited love. |

This song means alot to me at the min cos the guy I thought the world of has just moved away for a year. This song sums up how I feel about it - that I hope he enjoys himself but at the same time i hope he misses me as much as i miss him |

| The Futureheads – Hounds Of Love Lyrics

I think this song is meant to come across as quite camp, almost "taking the piss" but to me it holds alot of meaning. It's obviously about being frightened of falling in love, although everyone knows it's inevitable at some point in life.
It then goes on to talk about love coming after him "oh oh the hounds of love are calling" but then contradicts his fear by saying "I don't know what's good for me" - therefore that if he allows it to happen it can in fact turn out good.
So he decides to try it - "take my shoes off, and I will throw them in the lake, and I will be two steps on the water" although he feels vulnerable that he is going to "sink" as everyone knows it's not possible to walk on water.
All in all a great song!!!!!!!!!!!! |
