I doubt "All the rage" means something really hip. That would sorta go against what the song's trying to get at.

"Hold on to yourself" means when no one else gives a damn about you instead of moping around and feeling sorry for yourself you pick yourself up, and be confident in yourself, since no one else will. |

The point of this song is to not buy whatever clothing's there that's popular, because in the end it's just you being overcharged for something that won't be cool any more later...
This song pisses me off for that reason.
Isn't that what's happening for the commercialization of American Idiot? A big portion of that album's success and popularity is from stores selling their merchandise when the album came out and basically having kids wearing shirts and pins and advertising it everywhere. |
