this song is actually the original which monica covered a year later. i think monica completely butchered it. it just sounds really off when you listen to this version. i really like this version because it retains much of the innocent love and sincerety that the lyrics try to convey. |

i'm not sure exactly what the song is supposed to mean, but it has a very nostalgic feel to it. i first heard this song from the movie "me and you and everyone we know" and it fit in well with the scene... it perfectly captured the feelings of emotional hurt, desire for the past, and emptiness of modern society. |

i love this song. at first glance this part seemed a little strange- "You ate your soul and it made you fat
Starve yourself from everything else that
Makes you completely full" but after some thinking, i think he's talking about how eating your soul (making yourself vulnerable) resulted in bad consequences (you feel greater hurt) and so now you refrain from making yourself vulnerable to hurt, thus "starving yourself." it's a beautiful song. |
