A common mondegreen in the song is the perception that, following the title line, Jeff Lynne shouts "Bruce!" . However, according to liner notes, he is actually saying a made-up word "Groos". This is similar to a German word for "greeting", Gruß possibly referring to the Bavarian greeting Grüß Gott the group would have heard while recording the album in Munich. However, after the song's release, so many people had misinterpreted the word as Bruce that the band actually changed the lyrics and began to sing the word as Bruce.
The song is dedicated to the NASA Skylab space station, which reentered the Earth's atmosphere over the Indian Ocean and Western Australia on July 11, 1979. |

yes the song is about a broken relationship but it is about a relationshp where he and possibly she cheated hence the repeated line " My body aches of mistakes Betrayed by lust" thwy cheated on eachother and of course lied about it and it killed the relationship but he now regrets it all and still loves her and he knows that even though she says it and so does he that they can never be friends since they can never trust eachother after everything that happened |

once again ike with black no1 i know the exact meaning of this song it is about his ex who he had promised her mother not to actually name in the album because while they were together and actually engaged he didnt let the relationship be known well she had depression problems because she felt for everyone and everything she was overly empathetic towards everything and it finally got the best of her she had gone back home for a short visit with her family and she ended up killing herself and this is his song about her oh and nettie was his nickname for her because the first tiem they met she was wearing fishnets over most of her body |

The song is about how you everything is after you leave a seriouse relationship with soemone you loved you said all these beautiful things like you need them and yuo will always love them but after its over everything you said isnt true anymore so all yuor promises were almost honest since when you said them they were true but they arent any more but you still werent lying you were being "almost honest" |
