I couldn't tell you what it's about. But I love hearing the "If there's a bustle in your hedgerow" verse backwards. It's kinda scary the first time you hear it. If you've never heard it check it out at: http://jeffmilner.com/backmasking.htm |

| It definitely has a ska influence to it. Fleas' baseline is like something out of a Sublime song. Great song. | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Venice Queen Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The following is taken from Wikipedia: Anthony Kiedis wrote this song about Gloria Scott, a drug counselor who helped him beat his heroin addiction. She was an addict herself for some time, but she was recovered by the time she started counseling others. While Kiedis was spending time in Hawaii he received a call saying that Scott was diagnosed with cancer. Kiedis had met Scott in Venice where she took him under her wing and helped him recover [temporarily] from his heroin addictions. As things went downhill for Scott, she did not want to die in the hospital. The Red Hot Chili Peppers bought her a small apartment in Venice Beach (hence the title "Venice Queen"). During the recording sessions of By The Way, the band received the news that Gloria had died. They wrote this song to honor her. The entire intro is beautiful, and I love when the acoustic guitar kicks in. All around beautiful and heart felt song. (On a side note, the dumb ass who made up that bull shit about it being written for Keidis' model girlfriend from Italy is a complete moron and shouldn't be aloud to speak in public.) |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Minor Thing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I'm pretty sure it's about music and the process of writing it. First off the song is in a minor key. Also, I know that when my band is writing a new song, we're very reluctant to change anything because it's a pain and your not sure if the part your changing will sound as good as what it's replacing. The whole first verse sounds like its referencing this situation. To readjust *THE SONG* you've got to trust That all the fuss is just a minor thing *WILL TURN OUT ALRIGHT* In addition, on Wikipedia it says that John Frusciante wrote the majority of the CD. So maybe when he says "He knows everything" and the stuff about trusting, hes talking about trusting Frusciante and what he's trying to do. I could be way off, but regardless, Minor Thing, On Mercury and Venice Queen are three of my favorite RHCP songs. |

This is probably my favorite song on this album next to Banner Year. The horn breaks before the last verse are incredible. "They ripped you off, they entertained, [They did not try to ease your pain.]" I definitly agree with J35U5_ownz_M3. It seems to talk about how people may respect them as a really good ska band but not as a Christian band, which is stupid. |

| 311 – Getting Through To Her Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This is by far my favorite 311 song. I'm a little confused as to weather he's talking about someone he's involved with's problems. Or Just complaining about how she's completly out of touch with the world? (life is not tv...) Or maybe I'm just completly off all togther? | |
