I love this song like no other. I feel like it' the only thing i've been listening to for the past few weeks. "I know a place we can go where you're fall in love so hard that you'll wish you were dead."...brilliant. "i'm disgusted with petty concerns - parking tickets" is sooo perfect. I'm getting to go to court for a petty trespassing violation for swimming in an old quarry...and it's so petty, so stupid, so pointless. A part of the game. This line is exactly how I feel. |

This song is very anti-Cathedrals to me as well. He isn't feeling that sense of plseasure or belonging from sitting in a Cathedral, instead all his life he's been pushed to believe in religion. But it hasn't felt like home and hasn't been welcoming to him like it's supposed to "In the cathedrals of New York and Rome There is a feeling that you should just go home And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is" He cannot find home in the Cathedral the way he believes he's been raised to and how other people seem to. But then again maybe I just imbue this song with my own issues with the church and religion. |
