I'm suprised that nobody has posted on this song too. It is very moving. For trivia sake, Jarvis Cocker won celebrity stars in their eyes with this song. It is also used in the film trainspotting. |

I was always under the impression that monkey to human years translated as 3.27, but I will bow to Ochikanobee's superior knowledge on the subject. Incidentally, I found a stray monkey this morning, it may very well be the one that Mr. Ferdinand has lost... |

My eagle couldn't fly because I used to set fire to its wings, until those do-gooders at the RSPCA took him away from me because it was "cruel". I think Mr. Ferdinand did have a pet monkey, that must be what the song is about. My eagle was called Alan. |

I'm so sorry to hear about your monkey running away; a truly heartbreaking story. I know the pain of losing a beloved pet, I once had the eagle I kept taken off me by the RSPCA. |

The above link will take you to the legend of Stefan Dennis, perhaps the greatest musical talent to come out of Australia (a significant boast indeed).
As for Franz Ferdinand however, they are indeed from Chicago, Illinois, otherwise known as the windy city. Why would a British band write an album about Mike Tyson and a song about 9/11? The answer is obvious; they wouldn't. The ONLY conclusion to come to therefore is that Franz Ferdinand MUST be from Chicago. |

Firstly, i'm not an American, i'm from Manchester, England.
Secondly, Franz Ferdinand ARE American, and hence it would make perfect sence to write about 9/11.
Infact, the entire album is, to my mind, a metaphor of the life of troubled boker Mike Tyson. |

After having had more time to think about it, I think that this song is about meeting in the Avenue at 12pm, having a pint and then getting the bus to Manchester in order to drink more and go to the casino. Only a genius of kapranos' level could come up with such an idea. |

| Stefan Dennis – Solo Dancing Lyrics

Dennis delivers once again with this delicious pop classic. Never afraid to tackle weighty subject matter, Dennis here uses his sublime writing talent to bravely tell the world of his excessive masturbation problem. Those uninitiated with Dennis' ingenious lyrics would probably guess that the song was straightforward and without metaphor; this could not be further from the truth.
In the second verse Dennis shows his love of masturbation candidly with these terrific words,
"All these ladies tonight, dance together on the night club light
A voice says leave them alone, ah, ah, don't touch, hey that's okay! I'm cool on my own." HE goes on to excuse his own habit with the lyric "Everyone knows that it's alright to be a...Solo dancer" but unfortunately the masturbation problem became so grave (estimates suggest up to 53 times a day) that Dennis was admitted to a private clinic. Thankfully now recovered, Dennis is back on our television screens to show that he is just as much an outstanding actor as he is stunning lyricist and performer.

Oh, and the title 'walk away' is obviously about us leaving Iraq, if we do that then no buildings will fall down etc.
Read the lyrics, i'm sure it will all make sense. this song is about the war on terror and 9/11. |

This is the first song EVER written about 9/11. Very clever indeed.
"Mascara bleeds a blackened tear" being an obvious reference to stealing oil in Iraq
Statues will not cry - statue of liberty
No quake will split the ground - air strikes
No buildings will fall down - twin towers |

The lyrics for the song make it rather obvious that its about the troubled boxer, Mike Tyson. Very cleverly done, references to Don King will go unnoticed to many, but read the lyrics and i'm sure you will see it. |
