| Belle & Sebastian – Get Me Away from Here, I'm Dying Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|

He's definitely not actually dying. it's a metaphor. he feels trapped the way his life is going and wants someone to 'get him away'. The guy is sitting alone on a bus and starts to reflect - the song is like his stream of conciousness- all that stuff is going through his mind. he feels sad and then wants to listen to a song that will make him feel better, but he can't think of one so he starts to write his own. then he starts to read a book and compares the boy in the book to himself, but then it gets mixed up in the song but he didn't want ther book in the song "that wasb't what I meant to say at all" then he gets distracted by the rain and thinks about his lovers and then he goes back to the book again. it's a great song, and he does make me cry with those words! |

| Belle & Sebastian – Funny Little Frog Lyrics

I think that the funny little frog is a metaphor for when you get a lump in your throat when you're about to cry. usually when people say they have a frog in their throat they mean they have a cough, but that wouldn't make much sense in this song. so i think that when this guy thinks about not having a girlfriend/pines after some girl, he gets that feeling you get in your throat when you're about to cry. the girl he doesn't have is the reason he cries- the funny little frog in his throat. |

| Belle & Sebastian – Sukie in the Graveyard Lyrics

Yeah I love thisn song too. It took me a while to realise its brilliance though. I
Drewb18c- I think that it's Sukie who uses dave, not the other way round
'SHE had a slut-slave and his nama was Dave'
'SHE said "be my photo bitch and I'll make you rich"'
'he didn't believe her but the boy revered her'
so actually neither of them get used, or dave sort of does but he realises it and doesn't mind because he reveres Sukie.
great song to dance to along with funny little frog. |

| Morrissey – I Don't Mind If You Forget Me Lyrics

it's definitely about some sort of break-up. The persona was 'dumped' and he'd rather the other person forget him than send him their 'mild best wishes'. He doesn't want to settle for anything less than love from this person. I guess it's similar to getting christmas cards form people who you never hear from except at christmas. there doesn't seem any point in sending the card, it seems fake and forced since they can never be bothered to talk to you at any other time- you don't mind if they forget you. |

| Belle & Sebastian – Ease Your Feet in the Sea Lyrics

I love the line "there's no more wait and see" . It's so annoying when you ask someone to help you out when you are feeling down and they just say "wait and see" as if they think it can't be that bad for you and everything will just sort it self out on its own. Sometimes saying stuff like that just isn't helpful, sometimes things are that bad and you really need some help. Things were obviously that bad for the person in this song, since they committed suicide, people had said 'wait and see'... but he couldn't. On the other hand this song also explains how hard it is to help people in this situation. "I make another sandwich
And I fill my face, I know that things have got to you
But what can I do?" |

I really like this song too! it's a great morning song, I put it on when I get up. It seems like a really happy song but there is one line that gets in the way..
I am waiting for you to get out of your situation
With your job and with your LIFE
I don't think it's as simple as a couple deciding to go on a camping trip. I think it might be about a couple who just need a break from the lives they are living. |

| The Cure – Wrong Number Lyrics

I think this song is about a guy who is in a relationship with a girl who is going off the rails and gettingherself in to all sorts of stuff, and he can see that she's goingot drag him down with her if he stays with her , but he is so tempted by her that he can't get out- or he tries a little but it doesn't work. First he's only seeing the snakes, and he's getitng worried about the girl, but then later he is actually holding the snakes and they bothe end up 'digging in the dirt. maybe Angelica is the name of the girl- he starts out all good (church) but then he ends up with the girl (angelica) . Anyway this song is pretty cryptic. Everyone else'sinterpretations on this song are good too -it does seem to have a lot of allusions to America in it, i just didn't know how to tie that in with my little spin on it all. Anyway, I just thought I'd throw all that in to the discussion- try to help decipher this song. |

this song is pretty har d to decipher. It's really good though, it's almost a dance track. My favourite line is " and everyone turned over, troubled in their dreams again" . maybe it's about an affair these two people are having - calling after midnight, 'visiting time' and waiting outside 'your door'. But then it starts to turn in to more than an affair 'Visiting tome is over, and so we walk away, and both play dead then cry out loud, why we always cry this way" . |

| The Cure – Why Can't I Be You? Lyrics

To me this song is either about someone who has an infatuation with someone else eg- thier girlfriend/boyfriend, or it is a mockery of someone who is infatuated with themselves and who thinks that everyone else wants to be just like them (like what beehaus said). The lines "everything you do is simply delicate, everything you do is quite angelicate- why can't I be you?" just seem to have and insincere/mocking feeling to them when Robert sings them. Maybe it's just me adding that though! |

I love this song, it's one of my all time favourite u2 songs. It is one of the few u2 songs that you can actually dance to as well. I am not religious so I tend to see the non-religious meanings in u2s songs, but the great thing about u2 is that most of their songs aren't explicitly about anything. They let you bring your own meaning to their songs, so that's cool. |

| T. Rex – Spaceball Ricochet Lyrics

I think this song is about a conflict the narrator has with himself. He says 'I know I'm small but I enjoy living anyway' but then he says 'it's a pity that I'm like me'. He seems to not know what to make of his life, or even of life in general ( what does life mean?) . He keeps thinking about this ( all he can do is think about it/play the spaceball ricochet). He thinks too much and should just get on with his life rather than spend all his time dwelling on things - he knows this but just can't help it -thus all he can do is play the spaceball ricochet. I don't kniow if all that will make sense to anyone reading it, but that's what I think yhis song is about. It's a really sweet, reflective song. |

I can't believe anyone would say that t-rex were a one hit wonder! I suppose they weren't that big in the U.S but they were huge in the U.K. I like this song, it was one of the first t-rex songs I heard, but now that I've heard some of their other songs it doesn't stand out so much. It's still a great song though! |
