I absolutely love this song. Does anyone else hear the strange piano/organ music in the background that sounds an awful lot like one of the Phantom of the Opera songs? The progression of chords that goes upwards and then back down? Maybe it's just me... Right around the part "You fill me..." |

I almost feel like this is a song about a pedophile.... The popsicle melting reminds me of a little kid eating a popsicle. And she calls him a "bad man". He's whispering, "so no one figures it out", that he's a freak... Another way I saw it, was watching the video, all the random girls names in the background and the random girls in the bathroom--maybe this is a song about being oversexed and he can't contain himself, he needs to be with all these girls. And it's because of "these things" either referring to anatomy or sex appeal that he turns to every girl... Whatever, I love this band. |

I thought this song had to do with a person that a bunch of people used for their own amusement. They weren't really his friends, but Jed believed it was so. When his 'friends' move on and find a new 'humanoid' to make fun of/use for their own amusement. When Jed realizes this he just turns to alcohol and eventually kills himself (maybe drinking is a factor). That's why he was 'shocked' and 'broken' and why he 'exploded'. He's a humanoid because to the others, he is nothing but an object. |

Going along with the concept album...this song seems like he's lamenting about the 1000 people he has to kill, and coming to terms with how it's practically impossiblie to achieve. He keeps asking himeself "could I" do this "should I" do this (in relation to killing 1000 people) It also seems like he's realizing that no matter how many people he kills, his love is never going to be reunited with him. "you are never coming home never coming home" Something else I noticed "at the top of my lungs in my arms she dies"...perhaps he is having a flashback to the day the two of them died...she was killed first and died in his arms? I think the main point of this song is bitter realization and disappointment. He begins to understand he'll never be with his love, he also begins to reminisce about her. He knows he will never be able to push her out of his mind. |

I agree with what some of you guys are saying. I think that the song relates to the concept of the 1000 bad men to get his wife back. By disecting certain parts of the song I come to this conclusion. 'you could say a prayer for me too. But just get in line and i'll grieve you.' This part is the guy saying that he wants his wife to pray for his unclean soul, the soul that is killing 1000 men. He's also saying he would mourn her death but he's killed so many others he's spending pretty much all the time grieving, wracked by guilt by what he has done. 'Another night and ill see you. Another night and ill be you. Some other way to continue.' The way this part is sang kinda makes me think it's always another day, another night, it's a neverending cycle. Just another night and he'll get to be with his wife, but 'another' never comes. Also, he's saying that he wishes there was some other way he could get to her without having to kill all the people. He wishes there were another way. 'Another knife in my hands, a stain that never comes off the sheets Clean me off I'm so dirty babe, the kind of dirty where the water never cleans off the clothes. I keep a book of the names and those only goes so far to bury them So deep in town we go.' This part shows how wracked with guilt he is. The neverending cycle continues as he admits he cannot clean himself of the blood on his hands by killing all these people. He keeps names and this shows he cannot mindlessly kill, each kill is affecting him. 'I tried, one more night, one more night well I'm laughin', cryin', laughin' I tried, Well i tried, Well i tried,' This part is him apologizing to his wife. He tried to reunite them but in the end, he can't go through with all the murders. They are causing him to lose his mind he's laughing and crying and can't regain a sense of normality. He tried to push himself 'one more night' just one more night, one more murder, but in the end he cannot deal with it. 'And we'll love again and we'll laugh again We'll try again and we'll dance again and it's better off this way. So much better off this way. I can't clean the blood off the sheets in my bed' Someday he and his wife will be together and they shall celebrate. But not because he is going to kill all 1000 men. He's telling her this way is better, maybe someday we will be able to laugh and cry and be together, but for now, it's better to stop this. Also, he admits again that his guilt is driving him mad, as he screams he can't get the blood off. (Anybody here a Macbeth fan?) 'Well never again and never again They gave us two shots to the back of the head And we're all dead now' This final chant is his final message. I will not kill again, I refuse to do this any longer. We were killed, each of us, by a bullet in the back of the head. And now we are dead. There is nothing we can do about it. We are going to remain forever dead. (Ever play the MCR Sweet Revenge game...notice how the bad guy shoots them each in the back of the head....that's how they died in the first place) Sorry this is so long but it's what I think. Hey, I maybe totally wrong but that's what I got from it. |
