It's about a brakeup most likely because of an uncontraollable situation. In this he is prorayed as a cab driver. Making my way uptown and down Seeing familiar places, faces In my pile of coffee grounds I am now sure what this is meaning. "The days are better the nights are still so lonely Sometimes I think I'm the only cab on the road Sometimes I think I'm the only cab on the road" Since the brake up the days are easer to get through but the at night he still misses her. saying that he feels like his is the only cab on the road is comparing how there a lot of people out their feeling the same way but he feels like he is the only one. just like in New York he is not the only cab on the road. "Watching my breath rise in the sun Pulling myself in to make warm Helplessly feel for my phone and drive away" more about missing her and wanting the warmth back that she gave to him. pulling himself into his breath to feel warm again. and he is still waiting for a call that may never come. "This new rhythm I pursue Is just my gettin' over you Telling myself that I need to" This is where he is saying why he wrote the song. to get over her like he knows he needs to. "I'm still looking for a fare, no one said that it was fair To be alone" still looking for someone else because he can't get over her. and he feels like it is not fair to feel this way. | I think most of you are reading too much in to this song. I think is just about a guy who always used to look on the bright side of thinks till this girl. He started to feel jealous and insecure after just the first kiss. I get this from these lyrics. “Now I’m falling asleep” where he is going to bed and where most of his jealous thought and insecure come out. “It’s all in my head” were he is saying that every think he is saying is in his head. Not really happing. Whether she gave him just cause for this he does not say. I don’t think that she’s cheating on him and no way is it about a prostitute. Don’t trust anything on a video. Most of that is between the director and producers and not the song writer. | |
