This is just my interpretation. I think the first part of the song is a man going to a prostitute and then he kills her. and then the rest of the song is maybe about a homicide detective that had the case handed to him, and he's investigating it. and its one of those cases that stick with him, and drags him down, (Ive taken some law enforcement training - and one of the first things i learned was that Police officers have a very very very high rate of suicide and alcoholism, due to the things they see on the job.) So maybe the rest of this song, is about how this case is affecting the detective, and he's thinking about his daughter and what if it was her.. the emotions of the case are running high on his mind. and at the end, he's sunk into a deep depression b/c of the case and the nature of the job, the pain, the anger, the hurt he feels - that someone would take anothers life is such a horrible way. that he turns to drinking and cotemplates suicide with the lines: "The one hand throws the whiskey, and the other throws the gun As he cries out to the heavens I am not my father’s son" I dunno that is just the interpretation I get from listening to it. |

| Yeah, This song is about one of Paul's Sisters Friends who committed suicide over a failed relationship..paul's sister came to him and asked him if he would write a song to kinda help people who are in the same situation..so they have something to kinda look to...and "Photograph" is the end result..paul sit down and he was sad yet angry that someone would take their life in a weak way over such a trivial matter...this song basicly says step up...and don't be stupid it's not worth killing yourself over. ..I also believe to my understanding is was supposed to be writtin from the point of view of the ex-girlfriend | |

I believe this song, is about being afraid to commit....maybe he cares about this person and he's trying hard to overcome his demons but just can't "Well now, it seems once again that I've lost another one of the one's that have broke through the wall Damned Fate won't compromise" That can be taken literally...we all have a "wall" or "shell" that seems to be unbreakable..where we're leary to let people in..because, in my experience atleast..I've wound up hurt..and he lost another one that broke though the "wall" lost another person that got through his inner defenses "Fate won't compromise" - I dunno about the rest of you..but I believe in karma and such...I believe in fate..and him saying fate won't compromise tells me that he believes he's cursed to be alone..and fate won't compromise to let him have anyone... anyway that's what I think the song means to me... your guys' theorys are also great, the thing about music is it's meant to mean different things to different people..it's open for interpretation to fit the individuals own experiences/personality/point of view,...whatever. ~~~Paul |

| I've Listened to this song many times, and I can relate to it in a way, I think we all can relate to certain songs thats the beauty of music, I think it's about a love gone wrong..and "Fallen again for another mistress of burden to idolize"..thats what gets me cause I don't know how many times I've fell for a girl..and literally idolized her only to get hurt. she's a burden because she piles more hurt on top of him yet he still idolizes her "Look at what you've done to me, you've become my enemy, poisioning the world for me, take away my everything, weakened as I am" - Look at what you have put me though you've made me become this you've become me enemy I despise you for what you put me though poisioning the world for me you have given me a bitter outlook on life take away my everything weakened as I am - you knew I was hurting yet you still took any reason to live away from me....thats what I get from the song...anyone agree with me in someway? | |

I have this song on a cd, I bought Vol. 3 and it was a special edition 2 disk set....had the vol. 3 CD and on the extra cd had Don't get Close,Scream, Danger - Keep Away the full length version, a different mixed version of Vermillion and 4 live tracks, Three Nil, The Blister Exists, Disasterpiece, and People = Shit...... I never really liked slipknot at first to be honest, of course I never gave them a chance..but my girlfriend is real big on em, and I'm a music freak I love music, so I d/ld a few songs I have like 20 all together on my comp and I own Vol. 3 ...I'm looking for Iowa and their s/t album..I may have to go on e-bay or something..and I know they have another album when they first started out M.K.F.R. I'd like to find that one too but I know it's really rare...I think Slipknot is fucking awesome once I gave them a chance they're always on no matter where I go..at home..on the go..on my comp..i'm constantly listening to slipknot...vol 3 is fucking awesome they can be all hard and shit then they can break it down as well....I love every song on the vol. 3 album and i love all the slipknot songs I have d/ld..I hope they dont try and sue my ass for piracy..but I intend onbuying their other cd's as soon as I find them...and I know you diehard slipknot fans..may think i'm not a true fan or whatever..nor do I care..but i'm telling you that slipknot fucking owns...i used to be a doubter but now i'm a believer..haha...and I hope they continue to rock for years to come. ~~~ Paul |
