I was talking about this with a friend and we came up with a different scenario that it might fit... He's singing this about a close female friend. Both want to be more than just friends, but each are seeing somebody else. So both seem to be using the excuse of not wanting to be alone during the holidays to not break off with their current mates. "And we'll both be safe 'til St. Patrick's Day." ...meaning that he and his close friend won't have to face the facts of their developing feelings until after St. Patrick's Day and all the other holidays are over. Just a thought. But yeah, I agree with everyone else about the meaning, but this was just a different view. :) |
