Eminem – Love The Way You Lie (feat. Rihanna) Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is so sad. They're both lying to each other; her by saying that she will leave, even though she never does, and him by saying that there will be no next time, but there always is.
Her weakness is emphasised in his final verse when he says "I just want her back, i know I'm a liar" after she spends the entire song declaring that she loves this feature; this is what is making her stay with him.
The fact that she knows he is lying every single time he says he won't hit her and yet she still stays with him is so upsetting :(
I think it's really great that Rihanna is singing on this because she was stronger than the woman in the song; she managed to get out of the relationship.

Fall Out Boy – What a Catch, Donnie Lyrics 17 years ago
No but in the AS video you see like a baseball when they say "Donnie, the catcher" so I thought maybe it could be Don Mattingly? As in Donnie Baseball? It makes sense considering another one of their songs is called "Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet"; the headfirst slide bit relating too how baseball players slide headfirst onto the bases, and Cooperstown is where the Baseball Hall of Fame is... What's everyone think?

theDEPTHSofDREAMS, my take on this song is that it's a break-up song (Boycott love && all that) and so in my opinion the 1st part is about how you feel after a break up, like you're falling apart and dreaming about all of the things that could have been ("pitching myself leads in OTHER peoples dreams"; they're no longer HIS dreams) and how you feel like there's something missing ("there's a hole where something was"). Just my take. =]

That's the brilliant thing about Fall Out Boy, they can write about something like politics and wars and yet it still totally relates to everyday things like relationships.

Fall Out Boy – Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes Lyrics 17 years ago
UniversalMindControl, they're talking about detoxing from love, hence the "Boycott love" part. And then the retox part is because they know they're going to love again. They're basically saying you get over someone (detox) just so you can fall for someone new (retox), that's the point of life or love or whatever.
Nothing to do with emo music...

Yellowcard – Rough Draft Lyrics 17 years ago
I think when he says "you're leaving me in lieu of this song" he means that she's leaving him instead of telling him that she has a problem, instead of trying to work things out. Because the song is called "Rough Draft" && it's about how he writes her a "rough draft" of how he feels, hoping she'l read it and try to fix things and he'll "reappear". But she's leaving him without making any effort like that.
It makes sense when he says "so is your blank stare in lieu of this song", like instead of telling him how she feels, she's just giving him blank stares.

Fall Out Boy – What a Catch, Donnie Lyrics 17 years ago
All of the songs sung at the end link into the theme of "being the other man" that's featured throughout "What A Catch, Donnie"

Grand Theft Autumn:
"When I wake up, I'm willing to take my chances on the hope I forget that you hate HIM more than you notice I wrote this for you"
This song goes back to the very start, when the girl(Let's call her Miss Flack) didn't even know the guy(Donnie) existed; and he's basically hoping someday she'll realise how much of a dickhead her boyfriend is and leave him.

Sugar, We're Going Down:
"Oh, don't mind me I'm watching you two from the closet, wishing to be the friction in your jeans. Isn't it messed up, how I'm just dying to be HIM"
In this song we get the impression that he has been with her briefly - "Just a notch in your bedpost" but that she is still going out with the other man.

Dance, Dance:
"Why don't you show me the little bit of spine, you've been saving for HIS mattress"
This song is about the moment when she tells him that she's going back to the other man, but she's "no good with words" (maybe she used this as a reason why she didn't tell him sooner?) and he asks her to show some spine; basically to accept the consequences of her actions.

This Ain't A Scene:
To be honest this song doesn't fit in as well as the others, but the fact that the words of the course are
"I'm the leading man, and the lies I weave are oh-so intricate"
makes it seem like he is finally the only man in her life...

Thanks For The Memories:
The words for this song are pretty self-explanatory if you read them. The fact that the title is written "Thnks fr th mmrs" gives us the impression that it was a text that she sent him; ending thing between them. She adds insult to injury by saying
"he tastes like you only sweeter"

Growing Up:
This song is pretty self-explanatory too:
"She begged me "Don't hate me", she spun me a story .... She never meant a thing to me"
This song is when he realises he is better off without her and that the whole bad relationship was just part of 'growing up'.

Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet:
This whole song is about being the other man, however in an older sort of way - "Does your husband know the way that the sunshune gleams from your wedding band?" It feels like a more mature version of Grand Theft Autumn.

This medley of songs brings us through their whole relationship; and helps us to understand "What A Catch, Donnie" because we can then see that after all this time, since Grand Theft Autumn, he "still wants [her] back".

Just my thoughts on it anyway :]

Bright Eyes – Lover I Don't Have to Love Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about a guy who thinks he just wants meaningless sex, but after experiencing the scene of sex & drugs, he realises he actually just wants someone to love him.

"Love's an excuse to get hurt,
And to hurt..
Do you like to hurt?
I do! I do!
Then hurt me!"

She tells him that the only reason we love is so we have an excuse to hurt each other, and he twists it around, basically saying that he's willing to get hurt if it's an excuse to love:
"Then hurt me
Then hurt me"

Panic! at the Disco – Northern Downpour Lyrics 17 years ago
"Fantastic, posing greed"
This suggests infidelity. The dream is fantastic and yet he always wants more, greed is always a factor.

"Then we should feed our jewellary to the sea
For diamonds do appear to be
Just like broken glass to me"
This is kinda confusing... The jewellary bit reminds me of Titanic, but that's just stupid.. I think that the diamonds could represent an engagement ring & therefore marriage, and the fact that he thinks that jewellary should be thrown into the sea suggests that he thinks it's all a waste. Possibley because of the greed, aka infidelity, that either he or she committed. This idea is reinforced with "just like broken glass" line. Things that seem real (like love maybe?) are just like broken glass to him, worthless.
From this i get the impression that she cheated on him, and now he thinks that the love they had is worth nothing. Although it's possible that he cheated on her, BECAUSE she meant nothing.

The next stanze leads me to believe that the former is true
"And then she said she can't believe
Genius only comes along in forms
Of fabled foreign tongues"
The fabled foreign tongues are the people she cheated on him with, fabled(meaning lies/deceit), foreign(people that aren't him), tongues(well yeah.)
The genius is the realisation that she loves him and not the others, and she can't believe that it took infidelity for her to realise that.

"Tripping eyes && flooded lungs"
Not so sure about this part.... im leaning towards drugs and alcohal maybe? Like she was on drugs or drunk maybe when she cheated on him?

"The Northern Downpour sends its love"
Alot of people say this is about crying..? It would fit in, because he's upset and stuff, but i don't think it works... It seems like ND is something specific, not just a metaphor for tears... but i dunno

"if all our life is but a dream"
"hey moon please forget to fall down
hey moon, don't you go down"

Dreams end when the moon goes down?
Life is a dream?
He doesn't want life to end?

"You are at the top of my lungs
Drawn to the ones who never yawn"

The only people who never yawn are the people who are asleep, aka those who are dead?
She's drawn to death?

Panic! at the Disco – Folkin' Around Lyrics 17 years ago
"Allow me to exaggerate a memory or two"
The singer is exaggerating the times that he and his girlfriend had together, in an attempt to convince her that they're meant to be together. However they clearly have had problems:
"Where summers lasted longer than, longer than we do"

"Where nothing really mattered
Except for me to be with you
But in time we all forgot and we all grew"
Obviously he feels that things were simpler then, and that they've grown apart and forgetton how much they love each other.

"Your melody sounds as sweet
As the first time it was sung
With a little bit more character for show"
Not really sure about this line, the "melody" could be her saying that she loves him, and it has more character now, it means more now, because of all of the things that they've been through together.

"And by the time, your father’s heard of all the wrongs you’ve done
Then I’m putting out the lantern find your own way back home"
Again, not positive on the meaning, but it sounds like her father could be the one pulling them apart. Or perhaps she is just worried about what her father will think. The lantern represents the love that will always be there, but she has to find her "own way back home"(to him) herself; he can't make her realise her feelings.

"If I’ve forgotten how to sing
Before I’ve sung this song,
I’ll write it all across the wall
Before my job is done"
Here he is re-enforcing the idea that even if he forgets how to express his love before he's been given the chance, he won't give up on he.

"And I’ll even have the courtesy
Of admitting I was wrong"
At first this sounds like he's willing to admit that they're not meant to be together, but then he throws in:
"As the final words
Before I'm dead and gone"
Showing that he'll always love her, and won't give up on her until his dying breath.

"You’ve never been so divine
In accepting your defeat,
And I’ve never been more scared to be alone"
Her "defeat" could be her accepting that the relationship is over, and divine meaning pleasant or good, as if she was almost glad it was over. This is why he is so scared to be alone, because she has never given up so easily before.

"If love is not enough
To put my enemies to sleep"
The "love" being how he feels about her, the feelings he expresses, and the"enemies" being his fear of being alone, the end of their relationship and her fathers wishes.

"Then I’m putting out the lantern
Find your own way back home"
He's not giving up, but he needs her to realise she loves him herself, he can do no more.

Thats just my take on it anyway =]

Dashboard Confessional – Ghost of a Good Thing Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is about a guy who really likes this girl, but she's still in love with her last boyfriend, so she's chasing "the ghost of a good thing", it's not a good thing anymore, it's dead. && by haunting herself with it she can't even see that there are other people who are in love with her so she's losing "the real thing" at the same time.

I especially love the way the music mimics the way the girl feels; it's like it's always going in circles, the way she is with her ex, and the lyrics reflect this too:

"Chasing the ghost of a good thing
Haunting yourself as the real thing
Is getting away from you again
While you're chasing ghosts"

It starts with chasing ghosts && ends with it too

"I love you in the same way- theres a Chapel in a Hospital"
A Chapel and a hospital are totally opposite, one is the Church and the other is science. The Church shouldn't be there theoretically, but people need it, so it's there. Perhaps related to the song?

I still think it's about him coming out..
"It's a strange way to say that I know I'm supposed to love you" Like he wants to love her, but can't because he's gay.
And he sleeps in her old shirts and walks through the house in her shoes, such a drag queen =)
"Trade baby blues for wide eyed browns" well I think the baby blues is like a metaphor for his g/f and the wide eyed browns is like for the new guy!

I dunno! Don't give out to me for being totally like wrong and ignorant b/c i do actually understand the significance of the GINASFS thing but I just think it fitz in more with the song my way =)

I like Busted! I know that most people hate them but I really think that they're a good band! There songz might be really simple and stuff but they're crazy 4 just boppin round to n havin a good time! And some of them are good 4 when ur sad too, like this one and Over Now and Meet You There etc! I LOVE this one, mostly b/c of the line "You say that you need some time, how long does it take to see, that we, are more than meant to be?" It reminds me of a situation between me and my boyfriend, and it really helped me get throught things!
Everyone probably thinks that I have like the worst taste in music now but I like lots of other bands too like Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, Foo Fighters, CKY, Westlife, Britney, Christina, Avril Lavigne, Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, Ashlee and Jessica Simpson, and loadz more crazy stuff 2! I hate the way people are judged by what music they like, it's so stupid! And the people who come onto this site and leave comments about how much you hate a certain band; like really, how sad is that! Could you not find anything better to do??!?

I like this song alot, i think itz about how she broke up with her boyfriend b/c she wasn't sure if it was really love - "Oh heart
I'm not sure it's been long enough
To say what I feel is really love" and she thinkz they should have some time apart to see if it's meant to be - "There is just one way to learn
Sometimes we'll get hurt
And right now it's our turn

Give it time
Help me through
Heart we can do this together"

Then she realises that it wasn't meant to be so she apologises - "Heart
I know I've been hard on you
I'm sorry for the things I've put you through
Please don't you break on me
I need to make you see
It wasn't meant to be"

Well that's just the way I look at it... It's a really great song anyway, I love the violin in it at the end, it's just so nice..

Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is obviously about homosexuality. It couldn't really be any clearer.

Am I more than you bargained for yet?
I’ve been dying to tell you, anything you want to hear
Cause that’s just who I am this week

This is about how he feels about coming out, he's afraid to tell anyone so he just feed's them anything they "want to hear"
"Cuz that's just who am this week" is saying that he's not sure if he's really gay, it could be just a phase or something and he doesn't want to come out until he's sure.

Lie in the grass next to the mausoleum
I’m just a notch in your bedpost
But you're just a line in a song

I'm not sure about the mausoleum bit, I was hoping someone here would know.. the "notch in your bedpost" bit is obviously about how he slept with someone (who possibly could have made him realise his homosexuality) but how he means nothing to him.

Drop a heart, break a name
We’re always sleeping in, sleeping for the wrong team

This is from the phrase "drop a name" and "break a heart" but in this case it's the other way around. The guy he likes might have broken his name by telling people that he slept with him, and dropped his heart in the process.
Sleeping for the wrong team is pretty self explainitory.

I'm not sure about the chorus either. But I'm pretty certain it's "God" and not "gun", since it says it in the album thingy.

Is this more than you bargained for yet?
Oh, don't mind me, I'm watching you two from the closet
Wishing to be the friction in your jeans

Up until now this song could have been about a girl and a guy, but the line "watching you two from the closet" could be taken either metaphorically or literally. Literally would mean he is actually hiding in a closet watching two people together. But metaphorically would make more sense, given the context of the rest of the song, he is "in the closet" (in a gay sense) and is afraid to "come out", so he is jealous of all the people who are brave enough to do it. "wishing to be the friction in your jeans"

Isn’t it messed up how I’m just dying to be him?

Many people would say that this is about how he wants to be the guy who is doing the girl, but I believe it's about how he wants to be the guy who is being... um... well, fucked!

The video for this song although it is girl-boy, is more about being accepted for who you are than about the love relationship.

"So wear me like a locket around your throat"
There is alwayz something hidden inside a locket, and I think that's what he means, she's hiding him away 4m everyone (maybe bcuz she has a boyfriend and she's cheating on him) but he's pissed off with it so he's gonna metaphorically "weigh" her down, worrying about getting found out (for cheating) takes over all her thoughts and "weighs" her down. And watching her "choke" is possibly when her boyfriend confronts her n she "chokes" and messes up her words, leading him to discover that she'd been cheating. Then she loses both of them, and is "blue", but she deserves it because she shouldn't have treated them in that way.

The chorus is about how much he loves her "but its just the price i pay" this is also his own little ironic joke, he's the only man who doesn't have to pay for her "services" but he feels like he's paying the biggest price of all..... *yawn* im quite tired now..... i think il go sleep a bit... maybe il finish this comment anuder day....

I have a different sort of meaning to this song...

Well all you guys say that its about how she just broke up with her boyfriend and she needs closure but no.... no i think that she's still with him.
I think this song is about her insecurities, she loves him so much but she thinks that he doesn't love her back... so she keeps trying to end it with him so that he'll be the one that's hurt instead of her... but it never works, she can't face her life without him....

And yet she's afraid to commit because she know's that as soon as she does she'll be vunerable, and he'll be able to hurt her emotionally... just as others have in the past.... So she keeps trying to end it and then she keeps wanting him back and its a repeating cycle but she knows that sooner or later he'll be sick of it and he won't take her back anymore... She needs to learn to trust herself and him...
