Basically, this song sums up the entire "Gentlemen" album. It's all about a guy who is still a "guy" in that he cheats and gets hurt and hurts the ones who love him. And he's not telling her out of regret, he's telling her to hurt her. He has no conscience, he just wants the pain and wants to give her some. This sums up their painfully passionate relationship. And to the last person who posted, BUY THE ALBUM! It is my all-time favorite album. The sad thing is you can find it at any used CD store for like $5. How do more people not love this album? Is no one passionate anymore? Maybe the album is too raw for most people. Too bad. |

| The title alone tells you the guy considers himself someone who may be overly-optimistic about life, and particularly relationships. I also think he's aware but trying to deny that he's a manic-depressive, i.e. he overplays everything in both directions, good and bad. So he decides to come out of his cage and begin living and he meets a girl and they kiss. However, even though he knows it was only a kiss, he becomes attached to her and she treats it as only a kiss. He even says I want it all, betraying his need to grab on to a woman and keep her. But he knew when he met her that she wouldn't stay with just him. So even though it's killing him, he follows her around and sees the other men she's with. He's jealous and he imagines all the things they are doing together, because that's the way his mind (and obsession) work. It hurts, but that's who he is. And it'll start all over again when he meets the next girl... | |
