| Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Sunshine and Clouds (And Everything Proud) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yeah, I totally agree, The end of this song blends so exquisitely into the begining of Details of The War. | |
| The Shins – The Past And Pending Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I think this song is about the transitionary phase between relationships. So even while he's trying to get over his last love... "We've turned every stone and for all our inventions. In matters of love loss, we've no recourse at all" He finds the next one... "Blind to the last cursed affair pistols and countless eyes. A trail of white blood betrays the reckless route your craft is running" And hence he is struggling to come to terms with these different relationships and his feeling for all these people…. "lose yourself in lines dissecting love" |

I'm surprised nobody's commented on this. I think it's the best song on the new album. Not quite sure what it means though. It seems like someone close to him has gone away and he's wondering when they'll be back. |

| The Decemberists – Eli, the Barrow Boy Lyrics | 20 years ago |

" I must push my barrow all the day" I like the play on the word barrow. I have this graphic image in my mind of someone buried 'alive' and pushing up against the ground to get out. Beautiful song. |

" You should be ashamed to be so proud of what you've done but not no one not now not ever anyone... " Awesome Lines!! I'm looking for more bands with songs like this one. Any suggestions? |

"and try one, and try two guess it always comes down to alright, okay, guess it's better to turn this way" I love the fact that he uses 'guess' in the above lyrics. To me it means that after the end of a relationship, it makes sense to just think that it's all for the best. |

I definitely agree with sarcasticSmith. I am from India and it instantly reminded me of this religious ceremony I had been to a few years ago. It's cool that even though the song is set in Spain in 1824, it could easily be set in an India village not so long ago. Awesome Lyrics!! |

What an incredible song!! Does anyone know what instrument is playing in the begining? |

| Sufjan Stevens – John Wayne Gacy, Jr. Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
When asked about this song in an interview, this is what Sufjan had to say " I believe we all have the capacity for murder. We are ruthless creatures. I felt insurmountable empathy not with his behavior, but with his nature, and there was nothing I could do to get around confessing that, however horrifying it sounds." It doesn't seem like there are any religious influences here. Any which way, I love this song! |
