I did say ' many' not all. If i had judged EVERY single Taking Back Sunday fan i would have said ' all' rather than ' many', like i said i dont judge an ENTIRE group of people like that. That attitude is for Nazis. I've read countless interviews with emo musicians who claim that their lyrical ideas are based on first person melodrama and ' bad relationships' they have ' suffered' in the past.This doesnt make more heart wrenching music. On the other hand, The lyrics of Trent Reznor were given far more depth and emotion because he was suffering from severe alcohol and cocaine addiction as well as crushing deppression, he was truly suffering. This makes the lyrics of Nine Inch Nails a thousand times more meaningful than any emo band could ever dream of being, this is just one example. I firmly belive that this lyrical subject matter is generic in the extreme and is rehashed over and over again. I dont think you're being a pain in the ass and im not being an asshole either, I respect your opinions, if everyone had the same opinion the world would be boring, dont you agree? lol. To be honest im glad that you have taken the time to share your opinions and debate this subject with me, so cheers =). You see people of song meanings, there is such thing as a civil debate without spouting out petty insults and expletives every five seconds =) |

stargirl im not saying that you have to be emo to like Taking Back Sunday, i dont label people like that. I listen to everything from Machine Head to michael jackson, Nine Inch nails to nightwish, sepultura to Sting. I'm just saying that i believe that Taking Back Sunday are not a good band and are basing their lyrical ideas on the same generic rehashed topics. They are trying to put across this sense of angst and misery when they do not suffer from it and never have in life. Therefore this makes the music meaningless and hollow. I guarantee many people who listen to Taking Back Sunday, Finch, Funeral for a Friend, My Chemical Romace, Brand New etc. will stop listening to them as soon as it becomes out of fashion and will latch themselves onto the next musical fad. Im not saying that any particular group of individuals listens to this band im merely saying they are not good and are definately not deep and meaningful. |

I agree with animal house, it is folly top judge all of christianity. Its people who have twisted and perverted the bible and its teachings who need to be criticised. Im a pure aethist and believe that religion has no relevance in todays modern society. Philadelphia eagles needs to fuck himself with a crucifix. Great song though, Slayer are an amazing band. |

Lmao at the qurra's comment, i honestly thought when i first heard this song that Burton sang ' God give me a pie' as well, then i read the lyrics. Its a great song though, a little ' nu metal' for ' True metal' fans maybe. This is a great song regardless, i actually like the Digimortal album even though it is panned by most Fear factory fans and critics. |

Kingfox, you're wrong, Worlock is correct. Fear Factory have a trilogy of concept albums that began with Demanufacture, then Obsolete then ended with Digimortal. Just beacause Obsolete has the story written in the booklet doesnt mean it is the only concept album. Those three albums have one continuous linking story documenting the breakdown of civilisation and the war between man and machine. Demanufacture and Obsolete require the listener to decipher the lyrics and discover the story, Burton wrote those lyrics and he wrote them as a concept story. He has said this in countless interviews. |

This song is stunning, Burtons voice is absolutely mesmerising on this song, a fantastic closing song for the Obsolete album. As for the meaning i agree with Harry Manback, it is symbolising the sorrow and despair regarding the end of humanity. |

This is a great song, one of the best on Obsolete, but nearly all of the songs on that album are excellent. The meaning of this song is fairly easy to work out. I believe that the song is basically describing to the listeners the character, Edgecrusher ( the central character of the concept story in the obsolete lyrics booklet). The song describes how Edgecrusher is dedicated to the cause of humanities freedom from Securiton and the machines and how he ' inflicts strain upon the structure', basically meaning his work to undermine the government and free humanity. |

This song was based on an incident in which a riot occured and Dino was arrested on suspicion of being a gang member. This song is about the flaws in the justice system and how citizens are ' wrongly accused' and sentenced for crimes they did not commit. |

The extent of this bands angst is when they lost their credit cards, Taking Back sunday are a joke and their lyrics are NOT meaningful, emo is a fad and will fade away in a few years like nu metal before it. This band continuesly recycle the same rehashed lyrical ideas, the band has not suffered in life. Try listening to REAL emotional music. Songs about relationships are excellent when well written, for example ' Message in a bottle' by the Police which was unfortunately desecrated by this very band. Screaming and whining does not make these so called ' songs' emotional or meaningful in any way. Emo and especially Taking Back Sunday is the downfall of modern music. |

This is indeed one of Fear Factorys best songs. The opening is just jaw dropping when Burton roars ' SHOCK !!!' multiple times, i was blown away when i first heard it. I think tha this song is about Edgecrusher ( from the concept story in the Obsolete lyrics booklet) telling assembeled resistance members about his plans to bring down the totallitarian organisation Securiton and secure humanities freedom, Edgecrusher believes he will be a ' Shock to the system'. Thats my interpretation, i may be wrong, lets hear what other people think. |

Toolgirl got it spot on, i also think that the song is about an individual who was born of a rape victim and will inherite the defective gene that led his father to become a rapist. This is a fantastic anthem of a song and Demanufacture is an incredible album, my favourite of all time. Fear Factory are the best metal band of all time and Burton C Bell is the most gifted vocalist on the planet. |
