| Sting – Love Is The Seventh Wave Lyrics

This song refers to the popular saying among surfers and sailors, that if you stay on the beach and watch the waves, the seventh one will always be the strongest. Sting actually said that he wrote the song after a bunch of surfers told him that. He also said the World is now caught in the middle of a sixth wave of violance and that the seventh wave is supposed to end all that.
Very optimistic song. |

This like so many Floyd songs has more than one meaning. The most obvious two that I can think of are
1) Two people fall in love and soon one starts being jealous. He knows it can ruin their relationship but can't seem to help it.
2) An environment song - 'she' is the Earth, that we're ruining and draining up to the point where it just breaks 'push her to the limit to see if she would break'.
Anyway I'm sure there are more possible meanings, these are just apparent to me. |
