i think some of the lyrics are written wrong "Once upon a time we werent right" instead of Burning Bright and "Once upon a time we were on the same side" instead of just on the same team and finally at the end Martin sings "yea she really hurt me, yea you really hurt me" while Rihana sings "yea he really hurt me, yea you really hurt me" Its essentially the same story being sung from two different sides, how they both made mistakes and interpreted each others actions. Niether realizes that they screwed up, only know that the other hurt them and that its the others fault they split up. Its a nice duet |

This is my variation of yellows meaning, and i read that alot of people had brilliant ideas, mine always seem simple to others, who knows huh... I think the song yellow is more about the troubles in a relationship rather than it being a simple love song. The word yellow can also be used to describe someone who is afraid and if you simply substitute afraid and out of fear for yellow you get what i believe this song is trying to say. Alright, maybe its to obvious to be correct. Is this single basically the bands statement??? As in, minute to midnights will be the bands newest greatest most different album? That thier style will be different and not categorized into that nu-metal shtuff they always get thrown with? Lets examine the chorus, am i the only one who sees the "pen to pad" references? Erase and cross out, like when writing lyrics. alright let me try to break it down completely...here i go... They draw regret from what critics say about thier nu metal music, and its all true, except the fact that they are nu metal which is a lie, truth from a thousand lies anyone?) Put to rest what you thought Of me while I clean this slate With the hands of uncertainty So let mercy come and wash away (hoping to put to rest that nu metal genre they keep getting hit with, and they are uncertain of whether it will work, oh by the way, that last line; "so let mercy come and wash away" i think they mean mercy from critics and fans, to aid them and way away the mark they have thus left on music society.) I do wish it sounded a lot more different than this, because this still sounds nu-metalish. I also get that the video probably shows a second meaning which alot of people here are agreeing on about mankind and what theyve done, but i think the images in the video are actually symbolistic of the music world, and they are actually not discussing world politics but the politics of music. feel free to take apart my comment. |

| a fight song? when u finally defeat ure rival...ure nemessis...the one uve hated for so long and then suddenly...its like what the hell is this guy really dead. Basically think of a superhero defeating his archnemessis...its like....whoa was that supposed to happen...ure dead that fast....u cant be dead..u should be alive and making me miserable...why the hell am i miserable..i hate u....but...........like the way i described this song. hope u got the point...if not ill throw in another little piece thats a bit more detailed specific...ahh whatever. | |

| ....umm isnt this apcs RENDITION of the song...thier version...just cuz the lyrics are the same doesnt mean it has to be exactly the same as the org piece. A friend of mine explained that the lennon version adn this song are opposites. which obviously is true. lennons song was all optimistic, this is more idealistic....lennons song was basically saying hey we should live in such a world...and this song is saying shouldnt we live in such a world? lennons song made u see what lennon wanted u to imagine...peace. This song makes u see whats really out there.....destruction. they both promote the ideas of peace, just differently. | |

| Is it....about a his girlfriend who is having an affair with someone, so he basically sets her house (room, place she lives in) on fire. Seems like no real hidden meanings. he didnt want to know, but she either told him or left something lying around and he found out. Call an optimist is what i hear, but any of the others fit no matter what....hes basically watching her die, and just repeating in his head that he didnt want to know. Mistook thier nods as an approval....maybe they were talking, but probably something more intimate like having sex, whatever....they were nodding and he just took it as a sign. Like...hmm should i light this match....sees nod....ill take that as a yes. Basically the fire is set...and hes somewhere (out of the range of the fire) watching her die. i think...maybe its as simple as that...no hidden meanings or anything. maybe. | |
