| Sufjan Stevens – Sister Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song is one of my favorite sufjan steven's songs. i never really liked the instrumental part until i saw him live at town hall and then i thought it was the best part of the song. for anyone who doesn't like the electrical guitar version, check out the live one. | |

the end of the song always made me think of someone who is depressed and doesn't feel like they live up to other people's expectations ("Church bells and now I'm awake and I guess it must be some kind of holiday/I can't seen to join in the celebration" "Like I was as good as she made me") but still pretends that everything is okay ("But I'll go to the service/And I'll go to pray/And I'll sing the praises of my maker's name"). And the last lines, "I wanted her to tell me that she would never wake me," i think is that person really wanting not to die, but just to be finally peaceful. love and other indoor sports. |
