| Boys Like Girls – The Great Escape (Demo) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Alright, so to me, this song has GRADUATION NIGHT!! written all over it. I was remembering today that feeling right after I graduated and how much nearly everything that happened in high school just didn't matter anymore. "Throw it away, forget yesterday..." I did that!! | |

This is such an amazing song, and so universal as well, since really a guy or girl could sing it. I think when he says, "It was only a kiss" he's talking about a kiss between the girl he loves, and the guy she is with, that is obviously not him. "Jealousy turning saints into the sea" referrs to him being jealous, and before maybe he was upheld in some way, but his jealousy is bringing him down, becoming the sea, or just like everyone else, which is a sea of sick lullabies. |

Ok, what do you think of this: "And not to mention the constable, and his proposition, for that 'virgin' " I looked up proposition in the webster's dictionary, and it means to request sex. So she was with him as well as the lawyer. That would be the crash between her and the badge, being the constable. When it says, "She spilled her purse," a woman's purse contains everything valuable including ID card, and so there she lost her identification of who she was before she lost her virginity, or started sleeping around. And "Held a "purse" of a different kind" as said before could be referring to the fact that maybe she conceived. And that just goes along with, "Along with the people inside," the baby. I also noticed many references to the catholic religion, which I found interesting "Any practiced catholic...," "rosary tucked inside her lingerie," "Virgin" as in Mary, "Girls in white dresses" not only the obvious, which is Sound of Music, as it also follows the same tempo, but also confirmation, or first communion. This is enough for now, more later. : D |

Well, this is my newest favorite song. However, it's so complex, it's driving me crazy, trying to find a deeper meaning than just the words themselves. Interesting, the thoughts on how it's making fun of indie music. And just to say something about Brandon, the eyeliner and all, makes him look like an indie artist, and I think in some ways their music is indie, though they may be signed with a major label. The line, "makin' up, breakin' up, what do you care?" Very typical of a lot of indie songs - most are about lost loves, and I'm not criticizing as I myself am a huge fan of whatever is not popular : D And since I can no further interpret this song, has anyone noticed that once it hits the bridge it sounds a lot like Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody?" |

| After having read many of the comments posted here, I'm still torn as to the real meaning of this song. Yes, it's very beautiful, and the lyrics are very interesting. But I think Coldplay (and especially Chirs Martin) are deep thinkers, and try to put meaning into their songs. Every one I have heard has touched me in some way, and is very meaningful. Perhaps this song could be a mix of all these different ideas? I've been trying hard for a long time to figure it out, and I'm sure the composers are just laughing, only them knowing the true meaning!! | |
