Have anybody heard to say this is a Lifehouse's song, about the people being prohibited to move from their hometown to another place? I heard that in a documentary, and it tolds there´s a relation between Goin´ Mobile and Baba O'Riley, for their parts of the same story. |

| Pink Floyd – Summer '68 Lyrics

The lyrics, for its houghness, apparently doesn´t "combine" with the delicate melody. The song is about a one-night meeting that´s destined to finish soon. After beeing involved with the girl, the guy is going to return to his habitual life, were "friends are lying in the sun" etc. But this girl isn´t indiferent to him, although he can see things this way. The question "How do you feel" discloses his real feelings about her, that are deeper than he suposes. Even so, he is going away. It´s a very existentialist song, as many other Pink Floyd songs. It makes us to think about the fragility of the moment, the impossibility of being happy and realized in an ever-changing world, were people are condemned to live alone by egoism, hedonism and preconceived ideas. In this point of view, the melody and orchestration are perfectly adjusted to the lyrics, for it´s strong beauty and the alternance of delicate and magnificent moments. |
