| I don't think you're that far off personally. I think it is about someone who he loved very much and lost. Now he is has returned from his travels to find she isn't hanging in the same circle anymore. The wolves to me represent all the people around us, trying to influence our decisions and lead us down the wrong path (subconsciously at least). That sums up the closing line. Once they lost faith in each other they were destroyed by the wolves. | |

| I'm not sure why he changed the lyrics to the other version. Maybe he is portraying denial by saying its ok? It's so beautifully recorded I can't help but love it just as much. I believe it is about loving someone so much but you have to give something in order to receive it, which is why it you know it won't ever last. | |

Songs shouldn't be determined by what other people interpret. They are a feeling that gets provoked inside of you, lyrically and melody wise. When I read through the lyrics of this song is reminds me of a past love which ended and how much it hurts even when you look back on the good times. Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you She tied you to her kitchen chair She broke your throne and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the hallelujah Those lyrics remind me of the beauty of of love but how it controls you as well. The feeling of her lips making you grateful for life and crying out about it. Then it moves onto the breakdown of the relationship, But love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah Those lyrics just show you how risking yourself in love will break you down and make you desperate for redemption. I would probably say this is the greatest song ever written, lyrically and melody wise it is just perfect and makes me break down everytime I hear it. Thanks for reading... x X x |
