i got
static in my head the reflected sound of everything tried to go
to where it led but it didn't lead to anything the noise is
coming out, and if it's not out now, i know it's just about to
drown tomorrow out
I always thougth that last bit was a clear statement about suicide. The noise i think represents a shotgun blast. |

I honestly don’t even see how you get drug use outa this song. This song is defiantly about modern culture just look at the lyrics its about people trying to capitalize and sell anything they can and how people are so gullible that they will just buy whatever is being sold and no one is thinking or challenging anything they are just becoming numb in a faceless machine. |

The song is simply about anyone who likes to see others in pain and who talks behind your back but then smiles through their teeth at you whenever they see you. |

While the last verse is almost defeiantly about using some sort of substance to feel ok. The rest of the song could easily just be interpreted as a fuck you song. |

And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flowers by the mail
Send me dead flowers to my wedding
And I won't forget to put roses on your grave
I think this is him saying that even in death you are better than me on my best day |

cos everyone is a fucking pro
and they all got answers from trouble they've known
and they all got to say what you should and shouldn't do
though they don't have a clue
I had always loved Elliott Smith to death but it was when i first heard this line that i knew he was my idol |

I think this song is about how people have always pointed the finger at him and told him how he needed to clean up his act and that there is no in-between but when he looks at society he realizes that all anybody every does is live in-between black and white mediocre numb lives |

i tend to take a literal approach on this song like he wants to be laid back and not so angry all the time but he cant help it becuae he is surrounded by people who will lie chaet and steal to get what they want so it turns him bitter |
