I couldn't disagree more. It's about the exact opposite actually. It's the narrator, having realised he is getting older, yearning for a time when he was just having heaps of fun with friends. "Where are your friends/if I could see all my friends tonight" is about wanting to relive those times all over again. No way in hell is it the narrator realising they've wasted their life at parties and having an epiphany about being ready to settle down.
And for everyone out there who enjoys dancing with friends, that's why All My Friends is one of the greatest songs ever. |

I think its's a shame the song was leaked, because it is so good. Now (when it is officially released) everyone will be so used to it that we won't like it as much.
But, it as a terrific song, and (would have been) easily the second best song on HTDAAB.
