| Clay Aiken – When You Say You Love Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I'm as big of a Clay fan as the next person, but this song is obviously about a stripper. The first paragraph describes her profession and the way he's there even though he wants true love. The chorus is his fight within himself, wanting so bad to be loved, and questioning if she cares about him even though he means nothing. In the third paragraph "It's not that I don't really like the attention" he is expressing that he likes what she's doing, fake attention or not, he cant help but enjoy himself. "I feel like the only man in the room.", this emphasizes her career; there are many other men in the room. "Are you really sincere, is this just something that you do?", he is still torn: He wants to believe that with him it is real and more than just the girl paying her rent. The last paragaph is just repeating how much he wants love, and how he doesnt want to be hurt again (why he turns to a stripper: shallow love, even though he ends up being infatuated anyway) |
