Emery – World Away Lyrics 18 years ago
i think this song is about two different sides to a relationship, the beginning and the end. it also sort of feels to me like its about a one night stand, and how it can make someone feel used and awful. idk, that's just my take on it.

He Is Legend – China White II Lyrics 19 years ago
obviously the sequel to "china white". i'm not exactly sure, but there are some obvious correlations between the two songs:
china white - "i can't wait to sleep in late"
china white II - "with your father gone and your mom in chains, i have time to sleep in late"
china white - "you'd better get your gun"
china white II - "your daddy should've brought his gun"

if i were to take a stab at it.... the first one i feel is more of a revenge piece, from the point of view of the gardener. this one is initially from the point of view of the little girl and the mother, and then back to the gardener. perhaps something to do with slavery, since HIL is from NC. obviously in this one, he's killed their father, "i hear the flowers as they speak below" and imprisoned the mother, and plans to kill the young girl as well. "when you wake you will grow at my feet". i particularly enjoy the imagery these lyrics portray, especially the line "the man with the roses that grow from his hands". this song is very sinister, and that line portrays a very dark, almost supernatural villian figure. but then again... i could be all wrong about this whole thing, haha, it is open to interpretation.

Matchbook Romance – Monsters Lyrics 20 years ago
it doesn't sound like pain at all. i read in an interview, this song is about everything evil in the world basically. advertisements and marketing and crap.... idk. i like the new album, it's got a radiohead-ish quality to it, with the vocals and such.

Yellowcard – Rough Landing, Holly Lyrics 20 years ago
it's about a fictional character, named Holly Wood. like in the last song on the record "Holly Wood Died". i don't think it's about a girl.

Yellowcard – Two Weeks From Twenty Lyrics 20 years ago
well this song is iraq, i'm not sure if anyone's stated this already, but "Jimmy" is three different people in three different parts of the world with three different situations. the first one has no life at home, so is looking for a change, the second is going in spite of his girlfriend, and the third is going in spite of family. they all die obviously, but i like the throwbacks to the wars of the past (i.e. "i hope you're going to ask me to wait" for when guys would propose to their gals before they left for their tour of duty). i love the jazzy feel of this song, it just makes it sound all the more rebellious to me.

Thrice – Atlantic Lyrics 20 years ago
i think that this song is about dying, and being in the presence of god. i think it's about longing and wanting so badly to feel the same way about god as you did when you were a kid (i.e. the tin cans & string). i think he's saying that he's seeing everything and taking it all in, this awesome force that he is gracing the presence of. i think it's about the battle of being christian, and how hard it is to resist the temptations and to put up with the criticism, but in this song he's envisioning being in front of god and it's all worth it. the chorus is his idea of heaven, and the second verse is kinda saying like, "pinch me, is this real?" i think it's really positive and really cool, as are all the thrice songs.

Thrice – Of Dust And Nations Lyrics 20 years ago
initially i thought it was more about our involvement in the war, but i can see the parallels to possessions. it's got a very "so strange i remember you" feel with the concept. Musically, is it just me, or does it kinda sound like a mix between incubus' "The Warmth" and Thursday's "Understanding In A Car Crash", at least guitarwise anyway...

Finch – Ink Lyrics 20 years ago
it was ilovehimhelovesher. it's hard for me. i think What It Is To Burn will be my favorite in the respect that it was first, and came out, and i loved it. but it's hard to listen to now that Say Hello To Sunshine is out. i don't love it any less, they're like my kids really. but i agree with everyone on finch's sound, they sound so awesome now, not quite metal, but like, dark rock. i love finch, and i'll probably love whatever they put out, but i really love this, it's amazing........
as for the song, i agree with -b-. if you read the whole album lyrics, there isn't a single song void of dark lyrical imagery. i think this has the undertones of a coma maybe? like some kind of sickness that leaves you completely paralyzed. idk this stuff is weird for me, and hard to interpret. better luck next time i suppose.
