aahhh fucking brilliant especially the ambient section at the end where they sample the drums. By the way she never sings "Ohh......." it's a theremin. |

i agree with that. tim kasher's writing on this album is so different from the rest of the good life stuff which can often contrast to cursive songwriting regardless it isn't exactly unusual for him to write about failing relationships. |

the lyrics to this song are kind of written on the back of "Meeting People Is Easy" and they're a bit different than this. but yes, amazing |

opening with this song at the show is amazing when they count down reeally fast into it from like 2000 or something. wonderful song though |

| The Decemberists – Odalisque Lyrics | 20 years ago |

lines like "what do we do with ten dirty jews a thirty-ought full of rock salt and a warm afternoon?" don't really have anything to do with prostitution though. more like nazism which doesn't have much to do with the subject |

yeah i'm pretty sure all the versions i have say "charlie" which makes me think the references to violence are literal, since he was abused by charlie, his step dad |

| Elliott Smith – Division Day Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| "division" might have something to do with Division Street, which was two blocks away from his mom's house in portland. I have no idea why it would be a day though | |
| Elliott Smith – Condor Ave. Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
in a live version he says he wrote it when he was 17 so yeah a lot of time to change the lyrics before he released it |
|
| Pinback – Grey Machine Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I think the message is prtty constant throughout the song; it kind of slows down the thought process to life and put it in a Rob Crow point perspective anyway. Beautiful. |

| The Decemberists – The Mariner's Revenge Song Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I saw this song live awhile ago, and Chris Funk (the multi-instrumentalist) gave the signal when everyone should "scream as if they're being eaten by a whale." Possibly the coolest live band I've ever seen. | |
