A Perfect Circle – Passive Lyrics 19 years ago
"Dont just call me a pessimist. Try to read between the lines"

Yes, it says "the doctor tells me". But it HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DOCTORS. Its just a metaphore. Yes, it is about a relationship.

A relationship between two friends. A relationship between two lovers. A relationship between a believer and a god. A relationship between a citizen and its country/president/goverment.

The magic with Maynard's lyrics lies in the many ramifications that a song can have. But it has only one root. And that root is "a passive agressive relationship".

AFI – Miss Murder Lyrics 19 years ago
Actually, this song is about people whose voice is so powerful that can make people (his children) believe in him, in his ideals. In the history of mankind, for good or bad, the greatest examples of this thing, are Jesuschrist, Adolph Hitler, Mahatmma Ghandi, Martin Luther King, etc. All these people died in tragedy, while their ideals remained strong, making "beauty stay".

Raise your voice, die young, and your ideals will live forever. Thats the main idea of this song.

Nirvana – You Know You're Right Lyrics 20 years ago
yeah..probably more "cooler", and more "ironic"..

But it would not be making a lot of sense...

See, the full sentence is...
"I have never failed to FEEL... PAIN"

now, lets see the much "cooler and ironic" version of MR N0 CODE..

"I have never failed to FAIL PAIN"

ewww... doesnt work anymore, does it?

You know I'm right....bwahahaha!!

Saliva – Always Lyrics 20 years ago
Hi all.

I think most of your meanings are correct, but are lacking one little thing. Connection.

See, recently i lived a situation like the one described in this song...

Me and her, we were in love... everytime, at any moment, we were making promises to each other, that our love would last forever... that we would ALWAYS be together...

Years passed by... things happened, fights happened... she decided to end our relationship, but still, she told me that she would ALWAYS love me...

I tried to get back with her, but, everytime i tried to talk to her, i got vulnerable... and she got more cold towards me, everytime...

I started to hate her, to hate me, even if i still loved her (I LOVE YOU, I HATE YOU)... It's basically the same feeling, they both consume you...

She was rejecting me, and was like.. i felt like i was crawling, begging to her, but... she rejected me, every time (I cant live without you... I cant get around you)...

And you know... every time, i heard her voice, saying that.. "I will ALWAYS love you" (actually, that was the only thing that kept me sane)...

And then...i tried to kill myself. I cut my own wrists. I felt like i was gaining back my dignity, (Does it make you feel more like a man?)...

I survived. And even if still love her (and hate her)... I understood something, and it relates to this song.

This song (and the end of my relation) was all about abuse. Abuse to myself, and abuse to her. Not physically, but emotionally.

About the line, "Does it make you feel more like a man?" Thats the guy telling that to himself. Speaking to his inner self. in a state of extreme loneliness... Then he "wakes up" to reality, and says "the pistol is shaking in my hand"...

...Good song. Fucked up life.
